Another Ugly Blowout--Swan Song

All I had hoped for this weekend was for a decent showing by our "team." They failed miserably...again.

My guess is that SMU football just lost about 2/3 of its remaining supporters and loyalists after last night. Even our sunshiners have pulled out their umbrellas. What is so sad, really, is how powerless we all are in this mess.

Everyone knows that Bennett really should be fired. I'm sorry, but dems da breaks. And for all you guys who talk about how expensive that is, my guess is that his buyout clause could not be as high as the pain SMU will feel financially if they keep him around. He (and the team) are at the end of their respective ropes.

We cannot continue like this. Something will inevitably have to give. One more season like this and we will surely get handed our third (and final) blow: (1) The DP; (2) SWC breakup; (3) Div. I-AA.

Act quickly and expediently, and there may still be time to save SMU Football: BRING IN A PROVEN HC and LEADER who knows how to use a school with so much tradition, academic prominence, beauty, a new conference and a great location to recruit players.

Keep Bennett and risk another 0-11 or 1-10 season, and we'll officially be wiped off the map.

It'll be interesting to see how many of us will refuse to send another penny if they keep Bennett on for next year. You can count me in that number. I have caller ID.

I agree w/ BR Stang. As I said last night, it's like having a girlfriend that you keep looking for reasons not to break up with. Your friends can see it coming, her friends see it coming, your family sees it coming, but you hold out hope she'll turn it around. I'm afraid I haven't seen the sour milk sweeten up very often.

Yeah...and to make it worse, the girlfriend's gotten fatter and uglier each year for 3 years. Pretty soon, if you don't dump her, she's gonna get pregnant and then you're stuck with her and her Division 1-AA baby.
