I didn't say that it would ever happen, because we all know it wont. All I am saying is without, everyone is wasting their time talking about the BE because it is done once WV and UL leave which will absolutely happen. Our best shot is to hope Conf USA-MWC get a BCS nod.

Why is it done? Because everyone on ESPN.com says so? That is 100% not true. there is zero precedent/rules/protocol for revoking a BCS bid. none. everyone is using the formula that they use to obtain a bcs AQ bid, but that is not what is used to revoke one. its just an assumption that people are using and have heard enough to assume it to be true.

If they leave, add 2 others and keep moving along. We get that Big East BCS money and keep winning.

Also, read the article about how Notre Dame is probably going to miss out on a BCS bowl game because they aren't in a BCS conference. Then look how the other conferences won't let them in as a partial member. Look at this thing in the big picture.

If Notre Dame is eligible for a BCS bowl, they are going to a BCS bowl without a doubt.

I think the point is that they may not be allowed their special BCS status in the new BCS system.

But i don't understand why they would take it away now, they gave it to them already once.

It doesn't matter, even if they take it away they will be eligible for an at large bid just like Boise State. They won't have to go undefeated to get it either. They would be the first choice on nearly every bowls list.

Great point. I think the reason they are allowed this special status is because the TV contract is bigger b/c of ND. So we all know TV drives the bus, so ND will be fine.

Ding ding ding, if anyone thinks this is about how good a team is, you are sorely mistaken. Money runs everything. The only reason the NCAA would try to take away the BE BCS status is if they are not worth the money. ND could be awful for every year, but as long as they are of a high value, currently one of the 5 top schools by fans, they will always be let into the BCS.

Letting in a high ranked undefeated Boise of TCU is just a cop out, after the threat of government intervention and to appear not to be a scam, it has nothing to do with letting the best teams play. Money runs the NCAA, everything else is just a facade so that they can count players as amateurs.

Why is that our best shot?

Because the Big East is going to fall apart, and despite everyone's pipe dreams the SEC & Big 12 aren't going to be calling us. If we can be the best of the left overs and get a BCS bid by beating up on them, we should aim for that until we can get the attendance and a few more years of winning. Then, after the next round of movement in 4-5 years, we will be a program that the big conferences will want due to the Texas pipeline of recruiting and DFW tv market.

so you''ll forego that $50MM in revenue over the next 4-5 years?

First off, the BE is not immediately falling apart. It has been stated several times that the earliest they could lose their BCS status would be 2016 or so. So that's not happening overnight. No matter what you come up with the BE will back fill.

Cincinnati and USF are not going to another conference like the B12, SEC, etc. Where are they going to go? A merged conference of CUSA and MWC? No.

Essentially the BE or call it whatever you want, will be the best of the left over BE schools, the best of CUSA, and the best of the MWC. Oh, and it will maintain BCS status for the foreseeable future.

So now, why do I want to stay in a CUSA/MWC merger that will then include Cin and USF? Huge conference with some big bottom dwellers. We have to share that money. Makes no sense. Even in the worst case scenario we go to the BE and form essentially a new conference with all the schools mentioned to head that way. We compete for a BCS bowl birth in the BE, take home a much larger share in TV revenue from football and a monumental amount for BB. Then when the next round of realignment comes up we will be better positioned to be taken by one of the bigger, more stable conferences.

hmmmm... Basically paraphrases many of the points I made earlier. ND is what caused the instability and they are the answer if the BE wants BCS status past 2013.

It happened. HB Pony Dad went off on that cougar like white on rice. I've never seen him in action. There was a hush in the whole bar as he moved in... but then she had to get a massage. I'm sure HBPD per-arranged said full body massage and as soon as she was out of earshot he asked me, "Hey Thad, uh, your leaving in a couple weeks, right?"

(And then he excused himself... and I didn't see him - or her - for a good while. They came back both looking super calm.)

Cougar had a roar.
