Mizzou is leaving the big 12. BYU isn't interested. they have to expand to 12 because they don't have a big school to replace Mizzou.

i wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Big 12 evaluate Louisville, Cincy, West Virginia, Houston, and SMU.

I don't think it matters either way. There have to be 6 conferences for the BCS to exist. Either way, SMU will make it into one of those conferences, whether in the Big East or CUSA MWC merger.

why does BCS need 6 conferences? and isn't BCS contract up for review after next year? seems to me they could do anything they want.

So to replace one high value team they need to add multiple low value teams, you do realize they divide revenue by number of members, so they would go from making slightly less money per team to even less money per team.

Also by what rule does there have to be 6 BCS conferences?

Not gonna lie, Mizzou has looked like complete clowns throughout this ENTIRE realignment. Pleading to the Big 10, whining about the Big 12, begging the SEC, trying to leverage SEC for a Big 10, dragging on....and on....and on....and on. If you're going to do it, do it like TCU/Pitt/Syracuse did it. One day you wake up, and poof, done. Clean, simple, fast. They're embarrassing.
