Missing the Point

I'm still waiting for someone to justify this guy as a August-November, Saturday to Saturday coach. No one has yet. He has gotten progressively worse over his tenure and the level of play looks less and less intense.

I called it a couple years ago, last year, and over the spring, the guy is not a head coach. I'm glad he's supposed to be this wonderful recruiter, but he does a poor job recruiting his current players to play with any direction, motivation, etc on a weekly basis. I want to see him succeed. In no way do I wish failure on the guy personally. I hope nothing but the best in all honesty. I want everyone associated with this program to taste success, but it isn't happening. There have been no signs of improvement.

Hell Baylor knocked off A&M. Does that translate to us in any way? Sure, they've got a coach over there that the team believes in enough to play their hearts out for. Sure the team plays hard, but are they running through walls for Bennett? If you think the answer is yes to that question, you obviously get all of your information through ponyfans.com, smumustangs.com, or Five with Phil, because it is spin. All issues concerning administration, recruiting, bla bla bla, this team has not believed in him for about two years, and don't believe in what he's trying to do, whether it's practice, game, etc.

He has lost the team. Period. What little ownership he had of the team was chunked when Navy spanked him in 02 and he never stopped the bleeding. That's why he should be fired. The damage has been done.

My position is much the same as McAndless, and it is clearly not a unique perspective. I hope Coach Bennett can pull a rabbitt out of what is left of this season and change my perspective, but from a realistic point of view I do not see it happening.

We don't but it may be close...and this season is probably the worst we've ever had other than the win against SJSU. Buffalo is worse. The two lalas may have a suckbelt win in a while, but they are worse. I would even put Ark state in the pile of programs that are worse. I didn't say team though. They would all have a chance to beat this team. I just think at this moment we are a small step above them in program value. That is not saying much. None of those teams including us deserve to be divisoin one. Add UCF and Eastern Michigan to teams and/or programs worse than ours.
