Need Some Help! Will someone who has access to Rivals please look at the Ticker story about Chandler Dane and tell me what three schools he lists as his favorites.
THANKS!
Tulsa, Baylor, and SMU. “Things have been kind of slow lately,†he said. “I’m still talking to Baylor and SMU; I really like the coaches and facilities at those places, and I talk to Tulsa a lot, too. I’ve visited Baylor and SMU [unofficially], but I haven’t been to Tulsa yet. I really want to go see Tulsa.â€
Chandler Dane is about 5-10. I have seen this guy throw in many highlite films and he does throw a beautiful ball but if we are signing 5-10 QBs then its time to really start worrying about the future of the program.
Re:
Uh...some of us already are worried about the future of the program. I am particularly worried that they might end tailgating on the Boulevard when we are forced to drop to Division 1AA because of failure to meet attendance requirements.
Stephen Hodge is 5'10" and makes the state top 100 as a quaterback. (Hopefully we really have a shot at this guy!) Pat Haden was quaterback for USC and did all right as did Joe Theisman for Notre Dame. I don't care so much about the height. What matters is whether or not they can move the offense down the field and put the ball in the end zone!
A qb at 5'10" is a disaster currently at the college level. Simply put how can he see over an AVG. O college linemen of 6'4" and be effective as a passer. No offense to the under 6' set but unless the player has X-ray vision,,,,sorry.
I have also noticed that the defensive in the middle of the line are shorter and wider than they were 10 years ago. Its not uncommon for lineman to be 6'1" or less (Brandon Kennedy for example). I used to like height, but after seeing some of the stiffs we have had, give me mobility to escape the rush!
Bring back Inez Perez!!!!!!!! He would have been ecstatic to have been 5'10. Actually though guys, no major college really wants a sub 6 ft QB. Remember Sanders? We got him because no one else chased him. He was better than most we have had but that is damning with faint praise. We have to run a wide open offense to have a chance. Small QB's can't do that. Please note that most examples of those who could were from long ago. The kid may pan out and I wish him well but odds are against him.
SMU has failed to sign a QB to date. Not good news. I do not care how tall or fast or how hard a kid throws....you either make plays or you do not. SMU needs to find a QB that can play a game without throwing 2-3 interceptions. We have unable to find those kind of QBs. So whether a kid is 5'10 or 6'6...it don't matter if he is throwing ints.
On another note...I am at my wits end with Bennett rotating QBs...play your best QB and be done with it...if you still do not know who your best QB is at this point in the season then resign. Frankly....I want to see Romo play since he actually can run the ball better. The drop back passer does not work at SMU with inferior lineman and receivers..... Saturday should be interesting...if SMU falters early then look for fans hunting down Copeland and Bennett to whip their you know what.... See everyone Saturday!!!
