I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you saying if the big east schools stay in the BE the tv ratings are better? If they go their separate ways to various conferences, ratings will not be as good?
The only schools I hear in play right now are WVA, Louisville and/or Cincy. There are other BE schools in big markets including basketball. And yes, football drives the BCS bus but basketball is part of the money contract. As long as you have teams in the major markets you are fine. Now of course if all the teams split and go different ways ( a scenario that SMT has not yet even given) then there could be a problem.
Or we could just stay where we are and die a slow death.
At this point I do agree, however, that this discussion means nothing until the next moves are made so I quit.

Like I said in earlier post, we need to avoid the 28-32 conference (big country or whatever its called). This conference only benefits the weaker teams, the stronger better funded teams will be screwed. We need either BE conference and pray that it keeps AQ or start over start a new conference and invite the elite teams of Cusa, MW, BE. We might not get AQ but it will make us look like a potential viable football conference. Once we have that go after the other sports. Its difficult. The only hope of concrete division 1 continuation is a Big 12 invite (which will not come unless they go 16 teams).
I need some new SMU realignment news... I am having drawbacks without a positive story... The 32 team mega conference is a buzz kill of a story... Quantity has never equaled quality (unless we are talking SMU attendance), It's like putting 32 ugly girls together to create the biggest sorority so the smaller more exclusive sororities made up with more attractive girls will have to acknowledge your existence... Bad [Gary Patterson] idea...
SMU goes BE no matter who leaves or is added. It is a step up, even if only temporary. That mega conference story was such BS, it was a proposal sent by Banowski and Thompson, which was summarily dismissed by BE.
Big 12 needs to make a choice - and I believe they want to stay at 10. At least, UT and OU want that, so it will likely happen. Big 12 has a problem though - all of the teams on their wish list except for BYU are locked in to BE for 27 months. I believe Big 12 needs a 10th team now for their TV contract to stay in place, but I'm sure that could be reworked if necessary.
They will push to keep mizzou, and fail. They will press BYU to join, which if it happened would solve all of our problems. BYU may stay indy, or the whole "no play on sunday" may keep them out. Does B12 wait for WVU/LV and/or Cincy? Can they?
My worry is that Big 12 says to hell with the Big East and their 27 month period, let's just destroy it by adding Boise now, WVU and LV later. If the threat is there, will BE agree to let WVU out of the 27 mo period so long as B12 does no more poaching?

I can't believe it got so much air time when the article began with the words "The Big East is being asked to consider..." you know, as it's someone from CUSA sent them an email. Probably Rice going "all in".
I'm asking the SEC to consider SMU instead of Mizzou for its 14th member. I wonder if I have enough pull for it to wind up blowing up the blog-o-sphere.
