Can Houston go to a BCS bowl?
Now #17.
With wins against SMU and Tulsa and then a possible title game against an 11-1 USM, if Houston wins out could they sneak in as an at-large pick? Obviously Boise will get the non-AQ automatic at large if they win out.
It would be hard to justify leaving out a 13-0 top-10 non-AQ school, would continue to make BCS look like a cartel.

If Boise loses do they sneak in?

I think that the computers will probably keep them out. They are 28 in the Sagarin with a SOS of 117, which will not get much higher. Other than SMU and possibly USM they don't play much in the way of quality opponents.

not when we beat them in 3 weeks

I don't think the BCS has to take two non-BCS schools just because they are in top 12 or whatever the magic number is. They only have to take one so until Boise loses I doubt they get a shot

That was what my point was, they wouldnt be required to take them, like they would be with Boise, but could they be given an at large bid. The at-larges are open to anyone inside of the top 12 and AQ conference champions I think.
The only requirement regarding non-AQs is that if youre in the top 8, i think, youre in.

Too soon to talk BCS game when you're #17 and Boise is at #4.
Average computer ranking is #14 at the moment with the other two polls at #18/19.
Conference games are brutal. Rice beat what's seeming like a decent Purdue team. UAB and Tulane aren't good but those are road games. SMU is very tough and there should be a strong Pony contingent esp. with a win this weekend. And Tulsa is 4-0, excluding games at Boise and OU and OSU at home.

They took bsu AND tcu 2 yrs ago bc they didn't take bsu when Utah was selected, and
Bsu was ranked higher than 2 bcs aq champs
They took Ohio state instead who was ranked one slot below w 2 losses.
In other words, They don't have to take 2 non aq but were shamed into it when it was clear two non aqs were deserving 2 yrs in a row and they screwed one the year earlier.
Remember, the bcs bowls are bolt tie-ins to BCS conferences. They want to reward their own not necessarily to screw non aqs but bc that's who they are contractually tied to.
Houston would need to get inside the top 12 and be ahead of perhaps to AQ bcs teams (ie big east champion and acc champion perhaps big 10).
It will help if 3 teams from big 12 And/or sec are also in the top 12 - thus taking up a top12 rank that can't be used for a bcs slot (only 2). Rather, more specifically, it will help if there are at least 2 teams in the top 12 that would otherwise get a bcs invite except that either they are the 3rd ranked team from their conference, or a lower non top12 ranked team from their conference won the conference and get the auto bid. Something like this Could happen in all the conf this year
Ex: ga beats undefeated lsu in sec ch game, who beat bama earlier. Bama and lsu both top 10 teams but only one goes and ga gets auto bid.
Could have this scenario in acc, perhaps 3 top12 ranked teams in big12
Of course this works against hou cracking the top 12 so don't want too many like this. It helps with more 2 loss teams too.
It's not likely but possible.

every year non-BCS teams should pull for ND to lose otherwise they take another spot. ND has been so bad for so long that you forget that. Thanks USC

No. They will slip up and lose. They do it every year. It almost happened vs UTEP. I say either SMU or Tulsa will be a loss.

Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

If Houston beats us and USM along with Boise losing to TCU, I think there is a good chance Houston could go to a BCS bowl game IMO.

That's not in doubt if they go undefeated and Boise loses, unless bsu remains ranked ahead of hou
Computers have hou at 14. In 6 more games they are likely to break 12
Big east champ is way below them, and the acc b10 p12 sec champs could all (I mean any one of them might) be ranked below hou. ex: ga beats lsu:bama winner
Can Houston go to a BCS bowl?
This will be moot after we beat them. Or should we throw the game so the bring some bcs money since cusa shares equally and it will help strengthen the bigeast with a bcs appearance.
