USM has made a living getting kids that could not get into other schools (read: SEC schools). I told someone that there was a 5* WR a few years ago who was offered a schollie by LSU and couldn't make grades and ended up going to USM - he might have been on the field Saturday night. This is one of the ways they have consistently beaten BCS schools over the years.
As a result, I don't think the JJ offense is the problem. You can't coach speed, can't coach size, and X's and O's don't have a lot to do with a QB who misses an open WR on a short pass, a WR who drops the ball when he gets his head knocked off, or using a kicker who answered an add in a paper.
JJ is outcoaching his opponents to get lesser kids to perform better. Many of these problems will get addresed in the coming years as the talent skyrockets.
that 5 star WR Deandre Brown wasn't on the field Saturday-he turned pro after he had a serious leg injury as a Sophomore and was cut. You were also hearing some misinformed LSU propoganda because that kid later fully qualified under NCAA rules and played as a true freshman. But its true that Southern Miss has some of the best talent among non-BCS schools-a fact their high Rivals recruiting rankings establish. One of Larry Fedora's first classes was ranked as the No. 1 non-BCS Class in the Country. 37th best Class in the Country which is extremely rare for a non-BCS program.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
I know we can beat USM. I hope we get the opportunity to in the ship. How many times were we in the red zone Saturday night? We only scored 3 points. USM deserves some credit for that for sure but we also performed very poorly in the red zone. Bease should have had two TD's that game. One was a little overthrown, but I still think he should have caught it, and the interception was thrown late. He was open on both. Much deferent game if we execute in the redone and dont commit the all so annoying false starts. But for now.......

What bull#@$. USM has the same entrance requirements as the SEC does. We graduate one of the highest percentages of our players in the country. I expect that propaganda garbage from SEC teams, but not from a CUSA team's fan. We have a proud tradition.( soon to be 18 straight winning seasons) There are many reasons a recruit wants to come to USM. As your team learned Saturday night, playing at the Rock is not easy and recruits love the environment.
I'm not knocking the program or the team - The Rock absolutely is a great environment and I loved being there, too. Hope I get another chance this year to see it. Point is: you have more talent and have had it for years, regardless. The other Ponyfans need to realize it and not get down. Can we leave it at that?
Love to see USM choke one more time in CUSA ( maybe UCF rises to the occasion --just hoping ) Mustangs run the table and we see someone else from the East at Ford for the championship --- hope #2 is that we run the table and play USM again at the Rock --- booking early staying in Hattiesburg --- pre game at Keg and Pub / Endzone --post game End Zone ! Let's beat Tulsa and get back on track.
