The pom-pom squad. Finally something from tcu that I don't dislike and actually quite pleasing on the eyes.

Forget the stadium expansion... We need to do some major renovations for SMU Pom Squad, if we seriously want to be Top 25 in everything!

So I had an interesting conversation with a friend today who recently got to sit in on an out-of-state donor meeting. I won't go into details because I'm sure most of it is not intended for public consumption at this point. However, he did get a view of the campus master plan, and it includes a site for an ON CAMPUS baseball stadium.

I'm sure there are a million hurdles to clear before this could become a reality--getting a few BCS conference tv and bowl revenue checks, Title IX issues, signing up donors, etc. But this does show that the administration has baseball on their radar, and on their radar to the point that they have a potential site designated for a stadium.

Don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but there seems to be enough interest about it from people on this board that I thought I would bring it up. It might not just be a pipe dream....and if an SMU baseball team were ever to make it to the College World Series, I will make sure we have proper tailgating activities for anyone who makes the trip to Omaha.

Isn't it great that we have all the women's sports that we can possibly find girls to play, but thanks to the fair and equitable Title IX, many guys are left out of the sports they want to play?

Such a great law

Would baseball get its own tab on PF, or would it be relegated to "other sports"?

I have no interest in baseball and I do not see the draw for us. Building a field will be mucho $$ unless its off campus.

Well that settles it. If you don't like it we won't do it.

Who cares how much money it costs when it is coming from private donations?

If some donors want to build a baseball stadium, let them build a baseball stadium. Better use of the land than another museum that no one ever goes to.

Title 9 is awesome. Equestrian has like 40 scholarships and only 3-4 girls compete per horse show. Seems like a lot of money well spent if you ask me! I mean, that "sport" alone generates a ton of revenue!!!

They have definitely discussed it...I spoke to turner about it, he said the only major obstacle is finding a solid location for a practice field and stadium. We've asked HP if they would be willing to share a practice facility, and they basically told us to f off.
