there have been lots of rumblings about this out west. It would be outstanding if they could make it work

If the BE pulled that off it would be huge.

Don't think it will happen.

That would be a great conference and would love to have SMU play in that Western division....highly unlikely, IMHO. I don't see BYU doing it nor Boise State, but stranger things can happen...Air Force would be a big catalyst for BYU and Boise State joining though...

Only issue with it is BYu television network...

Could open the door for unequal revenue sharing and that becomes the issue...

I don't quite understand why you people think WVU leaving is a deal breaker? They are NOT a powerhouse. They couldn't ever run the table in the Big East and now they are supposed to compete with OU/UT/OSU?
Some people simply forget just how bad it was...

Yes. But couldn't you pretty much promise BYU whatever so they join, and then later throw a temper tantrum and leave? I believe their is precedent for that. Now that means we (SMU) would have to become one of the big dogs over there to threaten to leave but hey, it's a good conference with them and a average conference without.

It would at least be interesting to watch Catholic BB schools and Mormons together. Wonder what those schools think about this development.

Agreed.

I don't understand why people think Boise wants to be the Santa Clause of the MWC and bring in all the presents to distribute with no one else bringing much to the table. In the BE they gain AQ status immediately, play in a deeper conference, are with teams that want to win, and gain market exposure out east. Their non-revenue sports stay in the WAC. That and why are we tied to Boise all of the sudden? If they want join the 8 conference merger let me. I'll pass.

Whatever it takes to get BYU is worth it. SMU would gladly be one of their wives to get into a Big East with them in it.
