You can all [deleted] all you want but I will NEVER stop being an SMU fan. Call it masochistic, loyal, sad, determined or whatever but it is never going to change - and we need a few thousand more to exhibit some mental toughness around here. Bellyaching makes some of you feel important in ways you do not normally achieve apparently, but the only way we can do anything about any of this is to attend, be supportive, and encourage as much change as is needed for SMU to be on an even playing field.
See you Saturday - No matter what.
Hats off to you, gostangs. From the list of descriptions you offer, "loyal" and "determined" are the appropriate picks. I would add "admirable," "faithful" and "role model" to the list.
And I'm right there with you - I will never stop being a PonyFan. See you at the game!

I wish I could be at the game so I could have a crack at the homecoming queen. I was two for four in my career on the Hilltop.
Don't hate me for being sooo happy!!

To the posts in this thread about their children thinking they are still cool. All I can say is your day is coming. My 15 yo daughter who attends some of the SMU games with me, although fewer now that before, informed me a few weeks ago they she has never seen SMU win.
And come to think of it, she hasn't. Although we have scattered a few wins in the past 15 years, she missed those games. It is sad that my 15yo has never seen my Mustangs win a game.
And being only 15, she can't enjoy the brews on the blvd. I feel sorry for her and never force her to attend games anymore. In fact, I don't even ask if she wants to go.
Now if she will just return the favor and not force me to go to High School games. Although, her school has made the playoffs this year, they don't have a blvd with painkilling brews.
Just send 'da money.

1. The Deck Chairs will be arranged perfectly.
2. There will be plenty of ice.
3. The Band will sound great.
Just remember, when abandoning ship Women and Children First.
Full Steam Ahead!
Do you need anymore ice?
Let me help you arrange those deck chairs.

Prediction this weekend:
SMU finally doesn't have to play a tough running team. SMU takes the homefield advantage and uses it - SMU 31, Tulsa 24. That's right, SMU scores over 30 points. You heard it hear first.

Since it is homecoming, I predict a surpise return by Luker. We are down by 20 at halftime, Luker's band sets up in the north endzone and entertains the crowd with an unplugged version of The Varsity. Luker dresses for the second half, Danny Frieberger calls the plays, brings back the run n shoot and the ponies win by 6 on OT. Post game party on the Blvd, Luker's band returns for an encore, Donte Walmack comes on stage, does a bluesy rendition of sexual healing, everybody heads back to the hilltop inn, eats cheese fires from snuffers and gets laid. Somewhere, Ron Meyer is smiling and Ramone Flanigan puts down the headset and applies for a rare 7th year of eligability. A. Kenneth Pye is turing in his grave and Larry Johnson calls Bam Morris to talk about what could have been.

Given the dismal number of fans in attendance, does SMU really have a "homefield" advantage when playing at Ford? I guess we have won three games there the last three years compared to one road win in the last three years.

SMU does have a legitimate chance to win the game. First, they better have a chip on the shoulder after the events of the last week and beyond especially on Homecoming. Second, they need to establish a running game and knock some people on their rear as they did against SJSU-absolute minimum 100 yards rushing from Foy Munlin and 200 yards rushing by the team. Third, they need to come up with 3 TOs and play mistake free offense. Fourth, they need to play their best game of the season on special teams and allow no big plays from their Touchdown maker Aslon Davis. Recipe for victory.
