EDIT: Houston's board of regents WILL reportedly now give the chancellor authority over moving to a new conference. I hope this signals that invites are eminent.
Marinatto added that moves toward expansion would be made after Big East basketball media days, which took place last week, and it appears we might finally have our first new addition to the Big East. Sam Khan(!!!!!) Jr. of the Houston Chronicle reports that Houston’s Board of Regents will meet Thursday at 4 p.m., and that conference affiliation will be on the agenda. The Associated Press adds that the regents are expected to authorize chancellor Renu Khator to make decisions when it comes to the school’s conference affiliation.
I agree.. we should hold off on so much reposting of rumors. There's no telling what's going to happen. TCU was invited to the Big East but is now going to the Big XII.. Mizzou wasn't leaving, but now is. Same with A&M.
Until we know something for sure, we don't know anything... and even then, it might change. All the rumor passing is just pointless.
We know in almost all realignment cases the stronger more profitable Conference takes from a weaker conference. If you keep that in mind then eventually all these moves make pretty logical sense including the ones you listed above.

Money is the end game it seems. Not wins, losses, NCs. It's about money. Don't get me wrong I get this, I understand this, I even do this on a daily basis in my job. But once college sports becomes more about money than my team winning, I'm done. Tell me how Cincy is going to, year after year, compete in the B12? Be realistic. Even WV. How? Unless you are a sunshiner for one of those schools you're laughing at them in the B12. Think UT or OU is scared of them? Or what about OSU, really? They will make a move that makes it more difficult for them to (in the giant national picture) win. They can constantly battle it out for 3-6 place in the B12. Every 5-10 years maybe squeak into the top 2. Oh, boy. Can't wait to watch that on TV.
Can we get back to the days where geography mattered, traditions mattered, rivalries mattered? Or are those days long past us? Next you're going to tell me Duke and UNC will no longer play basketball against each other because one is leaving the ACC to go to some other conference to chase some dollars.
It is the way of college football unfortunately. The expansion of the major conferences meant that weaker conferences would get eaten up. Always happens. Remember when Cincy, Ville and USF were in Cusa? they moved up during the last cycle when Miami, BC and Va Tech went to ACC.
Big East will survive, and I think we will be in it. But honestly, aside from UH and UCF, I don't know who will be there with us. I still say cream of cusa and mwc rise to the top and enter the big east. I hope so anyway.
Ha! its not going away-just may slow down for a month or two. What about the ACC? Just remember every remaining Big East school would love to leave. Until everybody gets to 16 they might.

I'd love to know what the hell Marinatto is doing right now. He gets panned for being incompetent all over the place. I'm starting to agree. Seems like the longer he waits to make a move, the more he is losing his grip on the conference. I realize official "invites" are all most likely hinging on Boise, AFA and Navy agreeing to join, and they are holding things up, but at some point the continued inaction could do more harm than just making the invites official. I don't know, maybe I'm just biased because I WANT THIS F*@#ING $H!T OVER WITH ALREADY!!!
