So, if Missouri stays, the Big 12 will have 11 teams. Further poaching to come. Stay tuned.

Re: WVU moving to Big 12 regardless of Mizzou decision
Missouri move to SEC could be delayed until 2013: http://www.foxsportssouth.com/10/25/11/ ... eedID=3703
This is looking like the Big 12/SEC musical chair thing is not going to be worked out for some time. The Big East should just get on with it and send the invites and realize that WVU is heading to the Big 12. It now has 5 FB schools--better start backfilling asap.
Invite SMU, UH, UCF, Boise St., Navy, AFA and BYU. That gets you to 12. If later the Big 12 or ACC come a-poachin', just start backfilling again from the best of the remaining MWC/CUSA/WAC teams. Time to get with it, Marinatto!!!

The longer the BE waits to start adding new teams the less likely they are going to succeed. JMHO.
Someone needs to break the logjam so that other teams will feel comfortable joining as well.
GO PONIES!!!

Yep, it would be a huge move for Big East stability for even UCF, Houston, and SMU to announce they were joining the BE. Add a Boise St. announcement and I think you convince AFA and Navy to jump to. Then BYU has to look long and hard at the Big East. If they say no, well, then get ECU. Get it going Marinatto, you [Gary Patterson]!!!

Re: WVU moving to Big 12 regardless of Mizzou decision
I think they know the Big East football is is jeopardy of continuing to exist...much less retain AQ status. For all the talk about the SEC, Big XII and possibly ACC doing further damage...we can't rule out the Big 10 deciding to become the Big XIV (if they could get Notre Dame and Rutgers). Lots of dominoes still likely to fall and unfortunately, SMU is just trying to survive...hardly negotiating from a position of strength
Re: WVU moving to Big 12 regardless of Mizzou decision
Army, Navy, and Air Force I believe have all already turned the BE down. I think BSU has given them a chilly reception at the thought of being a football only school, and now Notre Dame is talking to other conferences.
Ugh.
I think they have to act and act fast, and they need a quality team now. ECU isn't having that great a year, but they are a decent program and have been begging to get in - that may be where they go to first. In any case, I think they need a 'yes' from somebody quick otherwise people are going to continue to walk away from them.

Some common sense out of Lubbock on the WV move.
From the Lubbock paper:

and the recruiting angle, which others on the board have mentioned:
From the Lubbock paper:
http://redraiders.com/interact/blog-pos ... qdXw5s05DU
Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said Tuesday he was a bit surprised that West Virginia is the likeliest candidate to replace Missouri in the Big 12 Conference.
The fans and the football program are good, he said, but traveling there is difficult — particularly for Tech’s other sports. Tuberville said the only way to get to Morgantown, W.Va., is to fly into Pittsburgh.
“I guess they thought it was a good fit,” Tuberville said. “I thought probably Louisville was a choice they’d look at just because it’s five minutes from the airport to the stadium. But I guess they looked at it in terms of tradition and being able to get in on the East coast with television, which makes sense. They didn’t ask me.
and the recruiting angle, which others on the board have mentioned:
The second-year Tech coach said he hates that Missouri seems set on leaving the conference.
“Is Missouri gone? I guess we just told them to leave,” he said jokingly. “I hate that. I hate it for them. You look at their roster, they got half their team from Texas. I guess they’ll still come here, but it’ll be more difficult.”

Re: WVU moving to Big 12 regardless of Mizzou decision
this is the delay. my guess is that in order to get WVU's vote on the $10mm vote, they had to hold off on the invites until a deal w/ the big 12 was cut.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Re: WVU moving to Big 12 regardless of Mizzou decision
Being a Navy man, jumping on a sinking ship sounds like a bad idea..... Might be SMU should stay where they are. AQ for now might seem like a good plan but you guys want to play the big dogs why not just stay where you are and schedule some big teams pre season? You already play A&M, I mean no Alabama might not want to come to Ford Stadium but the Cotton Bowl is right there and so is Jerry World. Seems to me that y'all don't really want a damn thing, except to be back and be a top program again. Come on up to Ann Arbor in 2018 and book a date in the Cotton Bowl for game 2 in 2019 for example. College football is on the way to BIG changes I think, hopefully for the better. Or is it all about the money?
Go Slippery Rock!!!
Re: WVU moving to Big 12 regardless of Mizzou decision
this is the third time I have asked this but why the hell would WVU want to move to the big 12.They are top dog where they are the money cant be that much more after you consider all the extra travel for all sports.Do they really think they can beat OU and shorthorn year in and year out. They might not ever get to a BCS bowl again
Re: WVU moving to Big 12 regardless of Mizzou decision
can we demand a new be commissioner?
