SMU 41 Tulsa 35 in OT

Postby Sam I Am » Sat Nov 06, 2004 6:36 pm

SMU wins in OT, we 2-7 now. This takes a little pressure off Bennett for now. Good for him and good for our team. Maybe we can beat Nevada too.

Great job, indeed!!! Especially after being bashed all week. Now, if these guys can finish strong and win another game next week...maybe something positive to take into recruiting season? Coach Bennett dodged a bullet tonite. He'd have taken a lot of heat if Tulsa had come back and won.

Congrats to the football team! I'm glad not to have to see long faces this week. People may say that the team hasn't improved at all but hey...this is two more games won than last year and anything is better than that!
GO MUSTANGS!!

I think the team played a really good game today. Very few blunders and a lot of enthusiasim and focus. I truely love to see Ryan Kennedy run with the ball...it's hard to imagine a big guy like him running so fast and hard. The team let Tulsa get back into the game, but ultimately they did what they had to do to win the game. KUDO's to the team and the coaches!!! This was a beautiful day for college football and the team provided an entertaining game. I'm just sorry more fans weren't there to enjoy it. Come to the Nevada game...I think it may turnout to be every bit as entertaining.

Go Mustangs!!!!!!!!

HA! Thanks, TUFan. Kudos to your guys, they didn't quit. Ashlan Davis is a stud, as is Kilian. Good luck the rest of the way.

This game, to me, looked like evidence of a more mature group of Mustangs. No, we're not there yet. We might beat Nevada and/or UTEP, or we might get beat. But in the past, had the Ponies allowed the comeback they allowed yesterday, they might well have figured out a way to blow it. But Jamey Harper and the defense came up big in OT, and then .... Cedrick Dorsey. Oh, Cedrick - runs into the pile, bounces over to the first gap and hits paydirt!

We can say whatever we want about the decision to go for 2, the flags on the bench, the kickoff return by Davis .... folks - WE WON! That's not to kick dirt on Tulsa, but when you remember the record we've had in the last few years, a win is a win is a win. CELEBRATE!

Congratulations to Coach Bennett, to his staff, and to all of the Ponies! We're proud of you.

Now get to work in practice and beat the hell out of Nevada!
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!

Sorry but I told you all this would happen. I told every Bennett doubter here to wait till the Tulsa game and see what happens. I told everyone that said we would finish 1-10 to just watch that Bennett would prove all of you wrong..

And yesterday..he did!

Congratulations to Tulsa for fighting back and forcing overtime. Ill even admit I was scared that Tulsa was gonna beat us in overtime. But great job to the Golden Hurricane for fighting back!

But most of all I have to congratulate every single one of those players on that field in an SMU uniform! I dont think I can say how proud of you guys I am. 2-7 is a lot better than being 0-11 (or 0-12 like last year). Heres to 2 more wins over Nevada and UTEP!

Im planning on hurrying to get to the SMU game next Friday. So just watch out if you see someone speeding down the street. Got Longview vs North Garland in Garland at 1 pm then hurrying over after that game to the SMU vs Nevada game at 5 pm! Wooo HS Playoff Football and College Football in the same day!
