If SMU wants to qualify for a BCS game, they need only be the highest ranked independant and I think be ranked top 25... If they just want TV money well I dunno, I guess making your student athletes fly across country far more than they should makes sense. If SMU wants to continue the comeback that June Jones started just keep winning football games. There's a lot more kids academic futures at stake than the football team. I believe it'll all come out in the wash. BUT I have never been in the predicament of having been a national power only to be told that you will be dead for the next almost 30 years for something a lot of bigger institutions are also doing. You want new fans to have an interest, well I'm a Michigan fan that was born and raised in the Great Lakes State and I really like your team. First Texas team that I can say that about . Maybe, just maybe you all have a good thing going on?

Hell if I know. I'm too busy with Ndhmakong Suh sportsmanship rumors and Brady Hoke stuff, dude sounds the same if we win 58-0 or if we lose. It's like having Bo , Moe or Lloyd back.

Phewww! If this is indeed the case this will help to quash the uncertainty (for now) of the Big East losing any more teams and hopefully will provide Boise and others the assurance that the league will stay together.

This was suppose to be a Panic thread. Nothing serious or rational.

Why would the BE lose is AQ status in 2014 even if Louisville left? There is a two year probational period, if I'm not mistaken, that would push that back to at least 2016 before officially having to worry.

But this does make some smile. SMU could go to the BE only to have the BCS change the rules and tell the BE they are now no better than CUSA, revoking their AQ status. BE schools counter with monster lawsuit. Then the BCS takes a page out of Michael Corleone's playbook. While the rest of the BCS conferences celebrate bringing in a new era of monster conferences, they send out hitmen that knockoff all the BE power players. Leaving the BE completely crippled and unable to fight their loss of AQ status.
