Realignment is not an "entitlement" program. You get what you deserve. Besides educational values If you are competive on the field and have invested in your athletic programs and you have a large supportive fan base and tv appeal then you will be in a conference that finds you attractive. In other words, "what does your school bring to the table to make our conference better and more financially viable. It is not aceptable to say "if we are allowed in your conference THEN we will start supporting our teams." So, what conferences would want SMU..sunbelt, CUSA, mwc, a dwindling BE. A shame because with support it would be in the talks in the Big 12.

Something tells me there were a few more roadblocks for SMU going to the B12 than support.

In the words of the late Al Davis, Just win baby..... Get where you want to be by being SMU. NOT by looking for the easiest path to a BCS game. You all don't need the money now. According to the posts I've read here and elsewhere MONEY is not an object. You all just want to be the storied SMU Mustangs again and play TOP competition for your conference schedule again, I get that. SO Why in the hell would you think the Big East without VT, Miami, Syracuse, Pitt, BC or WVU (all former BE schools) would offer anything better than what you play right now? Louisville or South Florida is what you guys REALLY call top competition? I don't think so not from what you say. Unless you all want your B-ball team to have better RPI status. I personally have NOT noticed the Mustangs in the men's NCAA Tournament in a while. And I don't think the Bowl cartel is going to be fair anytime soon in Football.

I think waiting till you become a hot commodity is the way to go now. I work with a guy from Parkersburg, WV and he's pissed about the Big 12 move... You guys just a keep on winning and knock off an aq or 2 a season and be Boise who the Pac 12 incidentally don't want and incidentally wouldn't get a title game bid undefeated in the Big East, they have nothing to gain and neither does SMU. However I think SMU is smart enough not to make this move but just in case you can't tell [deleted] from shinola...... Do NOT wish to be a Big East Football team, look at the programs that they let go, Pitt (Marino), Syracuse (Jim Brown),Miami (Micheal Irvin, Jerome Brown, etc.) WVU (Jeff Hostetler, probably a hall of famer or 5 in there but I just picked a Super Bowl winning QB), Virginia Tech ( Mike Vick, Bruce Smith), BC (Doug Flutie).....


I mean jeez guys I like your team and I KNOW you have the cleanest program in the NCAA and I KNOW that getting back to where you belong is a high priority down there but..... You all REALLY NEED TO THINK about what kind of [deleted] sandwich you seem to want to take a bite of football wise hoops the Big east will still have Georgetown and Villanova.... Money is the total object. Why you think differently is beyond me. We can continue and improve in any conference that will has us. Going to the Big East is in no way the ultimate goal. Why not pick up several millions of dollars more to aid in this improvement in the mean time. very simple. It is very easy for fans of teams already in AQ conferences to look down on the move. Give up your money and see where you end up.
