Stang, the best idea on this thread.

Great points, everyone. I was embarrassed on 3rd down over & over when the scoreboard would ask for 'noise' & there would be a smattering of clapping. My wife (an LSU woman) had great fun with that one.

Even with the distribution of free Nevada tickets by the handful, look for about 7,000 loyal fans this Saturday. I'l be one of 'em.

That's been one of my views for a long time, count the Vard as part of the stadium and tear tickets to get onto the Vard. That way it counts toward the 15,000 BIS requirement. But as for the fraternity/sorority thing. Word to the Student Foundation. I guess we need to move the homecoming crowning to the end of the game and count attendance at the game by the candidate's sponsoring organization toward their point totals.

Actually, this "game attendance indifference" is really nothing NEW. As a frat boy in the late 70's, early 80's, traveling to the Cotton Bowl / Texas Stadium on a "beer bus", we RARELY saw the 1st. quarter or 3rd. quarter, the bus was a happening place..ALSO, I remember how crowded the Stadium Club used to be, there was Eric / Russel / Lance / Hopkins, etc., etc., running rampant, creating havoc, and everyone (a BIG crowd up there in those days) in the Stadium Club had their collective backs turned away from the game talking about the latest club, who's doing what to whom, etc., etc.....SMU football games have always been a chance to socialize, not sure that will EVER change, I still say we start giving tickets away in mass!! Long Live Steve Wilensky.

Congradulations team! Thank you!
This is a poor excuse, but I think the game should have been moved to 5:00PM. With all the activities, etc. the alumns were simply late and the students hung over.
A later start would have given everyone time enough on the Blvd. to meet, socialize, wake-up etc.
I am sure there are better ideas, such as also shutting down the bars, last call. etc. 15 minutes to game-time.

Well, me and my boy were in the stands. I taught him to stomp his feet to make noise in the stands (he's two). Of course, it really became more of a constant thing.

If we win, we'll have a .600 record at home.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I agree there were crickets chriping on a couple of 3 and 4 downs, but it seemed the crowd finally woke up it seemed to get louder. The crime was seeing two full sections of students the first half and 20 students in the same two sections the second half. What a bunch of jerks, from what it sounds like, you would thing the team was a bunch of lepers.

We'll be there next week standing and yelling the whole game.

SMU Fans Get F- in Support of Team

I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed in the fans myself. I don't expect the crowd to stand the entire game (after all my aggie days are over) but please don't ask me to sit down during over time!

#14…can we get a repeat for next week?

Winning cures all. You win, and fans show up. It's that simple. now if we can go 8-3 and there is no one in the stands, then we would have a a reason to gripe.

We have trained our students and most other fans to not care through our ridiculous schedule of the last several years - when we win some games in September we will have a shot at a bowl and then we can build our own fan base. When you are out of all contention for any post season anything, this is a rough town - everyone has a lot of choices.

With, of course! You know the original hog hats were designed to smuggle a fifth of bourbon into the game.

At my first college game ever to see Arkansas vs. SMU, my Dad (SMU
50) taught us that it was PIG FOOIE!! SMU won 14-7.
