Dez Willingham commits to SMU

Postby Hoop Fan » Sun Nov 07, 2004 11:15 pm

This is a recruit everybody will like. Local guy who was the Dallas Morning News area POY as a senior. Originally committed to Tennessee and started half his games as a freshman in the Big 12 at K-State. I believe he was 4 Star national recruit as a senior by several sources. Quick as lightning. Will make a great backcourt with Hop next year.

In the same backcourt? Are we talking about a 5'11'' shooting guard? Or do you mean as Hopkins' backup/eventual replacement?

I could certainly see Dez and Hop in the same lineup. Willingham has played some shooting guard. And if you were at the scrimmage last night, you saw Hopkins playing some shooting guard at times. There was a stretch when Killen was at the top and Hopkins started on the left wing and floated sideline to sideline along the baseline.

Isn't there a good chance that Roberts will be our primary SG once he is over his injury?

Guys, don't get so caught up in positions. We're adding an extremely talented player. We'll find a place for him. Just because we've got a PG or a SG doesn't mean we can't add another.
The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

If you're running a pressure defense and an uptempo offense you need to go 8-10 deep or you run out of gas in the second half.
