When will Kyle Padron be available?

Post by diamond_tom »

Too bad he has been hurt the last two weeks. But who knows if Jones would have actually given him a shot. Will he be ready next week?

Does anyone know what Padron's status is? Will he be available any more this year? Is he eligible for a red shirt year? In my opinion, competition is good. From what I saw last year and the year before, he is at least as good as JJ. At least he could throw the ball in the same zip code as his receivers.

If Padron has a medically verified injury(herniated disk) that persists throughout the remainder of the season then I believe that he is still eligible for a medical redshirt because his injury happened a couple of days before the second half of the season(ie the 7th game). A physician will have to verify the extent and duration of the injury. Here's a pretty good description from Wikipedia describing the fact that the injury must occur before the 7th game

A special case involves the eligibility of a player who loses the majority of a season to injury. Popularly known as a medical redshirt, a hardship waiver may be granted an athlete who appears in fewer than 30% of his or her team's competitions (with none coming after the midway point of the season), then suffers a season-ending injury. A player who is granted such a waiver is treated for the purposes of their eligibility as though he or she had not competed in that season.

I believe he is out the rest of the season . If he wasn't hurt as bad as we expect, i do believe he would be traveling with the team on the sidelines helping out the qb's.

Are we at the point that we are looking ahead to a better next year? Could this be JJ's strategy? Is the team distracted by anything? What is wrong? Is there another QB on the depth chart besides a redshirt freshman?

If he's gone the rest of the season, that is a bummer. Get well Kyle.

Our ONLY options are Kaiser and to pull the Red Shirt from CP. You guys better hope that JJ doesn't get hurt b/c this would get extremely ugly.

Hope KP and June are in good standing then, because if this year is a medical red-shirt, he could transfer to another FBS program and red-shirt his sit-out year (similar to Gilbert) or transfer to an FCS program with two years eligible. Not saying this will happen, but given the little amount of faith he was given at the beginning of the season and never given a chance to get in any other reps, there would be a reason to leave with two more years of eligibility.
