I read about NFL scouts visiting A&M and UT, and timing players in the 40, watching them lift weights, had them do conditioning drills (what's a "short shuttle"?)
Does anyone know if SMU got a visit from NFL scouts and coaches? Any word on the numbers our guys put up? Who lifts the most in the weight room? Is Freeman the fastest guy on the team?
Thanks

Re: Spring conditioning
I know NFL personnel were on campus a few weeks ago testing and timing all of next year's seniors in a few drills. I didn't hear any of the results, however.

They were there. Gave them the Football SAT and had them do some drills. I heard they will not share the results, not even with the coaches. And I don't think JFree had the fastest 40 time.

Welcome back Joyous!
Heard some really impressive numbers, including:
Vic Viloria ran a 4.6.
Comet ran in the high 4.3s!
Billy Ford ran a 4.6.
and Kevin Garrett .... on grass .... timed by NFL scouts, not SMU coaches .... ran a 4.18. That is absolutely flying. That's faster than Deion Sanders. From what I hear, the only players who have ever been timed faster than that are Bo Jackson, Darrell Green and Lavereneus Coles. Garrett is guaranteed to get drafted with wheels like that.
And Kelan Luker ran a 4.8 - a drastic improvement.

Re: Spring conditioning
The rumor mill has it that Briggs also ran a 4.6 -- an improvement over last year I'd be willing to bet.

Re: Spring conditioning
Anyone know what Briggs weighs these days? I hear he's been moved to fullback, and he's always been a pretty good receiver out of the backfield. If he's running a 4.6, he could have a really good year.

Re: Spring conditioning
Sounds like this squad has made some improvements in strength and speed. I'd like to see an updated roster that included current weights, especially for our linemen and linebackers. Any chance that will be available for the Red/Blue game?
