Dale Hansen's Goes to School

Postby Stallion » Tue Nov 09, 2004 7:28 pm

make sure to tune in at 10:00 tonite Tuesday on Channel 8 which has advertised an expose apparently on Big 12 academic shenanigans. Gotta love the Dallas media-although I'm satisfied that SMU got exactly what it deserved in the 1980s I've always felt the real cause of the blood-letting in the SWC in the 1980s was really the direct result of the vicious media war between Belo(DMN) and the Dallas Times Herald at the time. They were directly responsible for probations at SMU, TCU, OSU, Tech, Arkansas, Houston, OU, UT and A&M. Nationwide there is very little inclination for media outlets to expose the problems at Dear Old State U. but the Dallas media has, for better or worse, felt little such allegiance to its local colleges.

AND...I'll never forget the night that Hansen exposed SMU football LIVE on channel 8 with some kid named Stoppervich, who claimed that he was paid a $5000.00 signing bonus in high-school to attend our school. Hansen was proud that he could initiate what would become the death penalty for us. He includes this piece in all of his annivesary shows. He's so proud of his accomplishments. What a egotistical POS.

I'm just disappointed that the story I heard about peruna eating his rolex is false. It seemed like perfect revenge story, our little pony eating that chubby bastard's wristwatch.

I asked (made) a band first-year (freshman) email Dale and ask if the story was true. Here was his response:
now that's one smu rumor about me i haven't heard ... not true

heck in those days i didn't have a watch any good horse would want to eat ... still don't

dale'

I love his advanced typing skills, he must not be to the class where they learn the 'other' keys, like SHIFT or the use of punctuation. Although, I do like the little ' after his name.

So, who's Rolex did Peruna really eat? I've also heard Willis Tate or Bob Hope. Sadly we can't just email either of them, but maybe Peruna_ate_my_rolex can shed some light on the subject.

The sportscaster that I can stand is Norm Hitzges

I can't look or listen to Norm. He came out with a story that SMU was running a brothel to lure prospective players to play at SMU.

My favorite part of the report was when they said that four schools -- TCU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Houston (I think) -- give academic credit (all but TCU give grades -- usually As) for being on the football team!

That and the fact that 70 PERCENT of football players at Texas don't graduate. That should be mentioned to any recruit who says he's going to UT because it's a great school.

I don't even watch WFAA-TV news programs because of Dale "I can't talk" Hansen. Shame, too. It used to be the best TV news in the region. Anyone else remember when the anchor team was Bob Gooding (news), Dale Milford (weather) and Verne Lundquist (sports)? I've probably just dated myself 'big time' now!!!!

Also to his chagrin Lundquist also in those days hosted "Bowling for Dollars". I'm not sure he has ever lived that one down.

that was the most embarrassing investigative report I've ever seen. Football Players Have Low Graduation Rates! Football Players Getting Academic Credit For Playing Football! STOP THE PRESSES! Instead of the Peabody Award he might win the Pillowcase Award or maybe the Cheesecake Trophy. In fact, I think Dale was so embarrassed of it that in his later commentary he essentially stated that players should be allowed to be taught skill classes instead of worrying about them attending the same classes as the rest of the student body since they are there simply to get into the NFL. What an embarrassment-but then again you can tell its sweeps period since he was up against an in-depth investigative report on Breast Augmentation.
