this may be the best attendance comment I have read yet. it is certainly funny and at least as intelligent as any of the other [deleted] slung against the wall.
Win at home consistently (more than just for half a season-at least a couple seasons). Then start to do it on the road. That will do more to solve attendance woes than some quick fix schtick which will lose its appeal after 2 games.

Have game attendance count toward stuff like the homecoming results. Have a wealthy alum donate money to the frat/sorority philanthropy that has the highest attendance percentage at games. Make it a competition among the Greeks. Have penalties for the Greeks that still have kids tailgating after kickoff. Just tell them TABC comes around kickoff time and will also be visiting the houses. That will get them to the game.

game attendance used to count towards stuff like homecoming point for greeks. until they decided they didn't care about that crap either. i think it was a long time ago.
yeah, sure, just tell them TABC comes around. please.
just win football games. no one likes a loser, but everyone likes beer.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

for the record, only the student's ticket would count towards official NCAA attendance.

I understand that. Just pointing out that it won't count towards NCAA attendance numbers which we need order to roll our BE invite into an NFC East invite.

Why do we blame the students all the time for our attendance problems? If they all showed up we would still have major attendance problems. Students are not the major problem.

If we could get a majority of the boulevarders into the stadium, it wouldn't look bad at all. The problem isn't the boulevard per se, it's the fact that people stay rather than walking to the stadium (so perhaps a policy forcing people to pack up 30 mins before the game would help?). Even then, I don't think the blame should be placed on tailgaters, we just need more non-SMU fans. Period. Our student population and alumni population is pretty small. It's time to get Johnny Dallas interested in going to watch SMU. There's too much of a damn elitist barrier at SMU so we really need to market our athletics as a Dallas event, not a rich white SMU people event.
