Dallas HS basketball

Post by LA_Mustang »

We often talk about how good Dallas HS basketball has become. Well, here's more proof. Three of the top six 4A teams in the STATE come from Dallas' district 13-4A. And the #3 team (Lincoln) is in Dallas' other 4A district, 10-4A. Here's the preseason state 4A top 10:

1. Dallas SOC
2. Beaumont Ozen
3. Dallas Lincoln
4. Amarillo Palo Duro
5. Dallas Kimball
6. Dallas Seagoville
7. Nacogdoches
8. Del Valle
9. Boerne
10. FW Dunbar

Now that's impressive.

another thing that is impressive about that is that Lincoln has at least 3 D-1 players in its lineup and they are only 3rd. Thats how good SOC is.

That list is hard to believe. Houston completely shut out of the top 10?

And no, Beaumont is NOT part of Houston. Just like Waco is not part of Dallas.

LA,

Please list the top players that should be on the "watch" list this year. I don't follow the HS scene too closely. Is Ross's cousin Arthur still playing? Which kids from SOC, Lincoln, and Seagoville?

thanks,

The only unsigned mid to high level D-I senior prospect that I know about in DFW is Lincoln’s Gary Flowers. There was interest from SMU in Flowers but apparently grades will force him to go the JC route.

This year’s junior class is loaded. Leading the way is Q’s cousin, Darrell Arthur. He’s regarded as the best player in Texas and one of the ten best players in the country.

Mike Kunstadt's Texas Hoops usually has a pretty handle on the top players in the state. Here's his list of the state's top junior prospects:

http://www.texashoops.com/content.asp?S ... CID=350503

As for the DISD schools you mentioned, here are their D-I prospects-

SOC:
Darrell Arthur - jr.
Kevin Rodgers - sr. (Baylor)
Jerel Hastings - sr.

Kimball:
George Odufuwa - jr.
TJ Clark - jr.
Lionel Booker - jr.

Lincoln:
Byron Eaton - sr. (OKie St)
Gary Flowers sr.
Derrick Moore - sr. (SW Miss st)
Rich Jones - so.

Seagoville:
Ryan Boyd - sr. (SW Miss St.)
Donald Sloan - jr.
Derrick Rowland - jr.

BTW, a guy I really like and I've seen play several times is Ugo Chinasa of Richardson Berkner. He's about 6'8" and very long. I think he's a great prospect with a huge upside. He's a nice football prospect as well.

If he's as good -- in basketball OR football -- as Ugo Ihemelu has been for the SMU soccer team, then he's a must-have recruit.

Go get him, Bennett/Tubbs!

Thanks for the info. I knew some of those had signed like Eaton.
Thanks for the link as well.
