Isn't it all left to CUSA at the end of the day? If Hawaii plays in the Hawaii bowl then they are already guaranteed a full house. Maybe they prefer to have a bigger crowd at the AFB because Marshall will bring 300 fans.

If it is up to CUSA, CUSA will want SMU in the Hawaii Bowl. CUSA pays for 10,000 tickets to the Hawaii bowl @ $40 per ticket. If the Hawaii Bowl is poorly attended, CUSA loses that $400,000. CUSA wanted the TV exposure with the Hawaii Bowl so much that they subsidize the travel for the CUSA team going there, they guarantee $400k in ticket sales, and they force other bowl's payouts (like the Liberty Bowl's) to cover the expense of sending a team to Hawaii.

If the game sellouts but SMU sells only 2,000 tickets from its alottment does CUSA have to pay for 8,000 tickets? That could be a factor in sending SMU. But has Hawaii sold out recently-I thought attendance was pretty mediocre.

Yes, CUSA has to pay for any of the 10k tickets that aren't sold from the allotment.

CUSA actually gives a *huge* incentive for selling tickets at the Hawaii Bowl--any ticket that SMU (or whoever the CUSA rep is) sells, the school keeps half of the money. So, if all 10k tickets are sold, that is $200k for SMU and $200k in savings for CUSA.

Tulsa World had a great breakdown of all of the expenses covered by CUSA before last year's Hawaii Bowl. Unfortunately for Tulsa, they didn't sell many tickets but at least they kept half of the money of the tickets they did sell.

In 2009 when SMU fans bought Hawaii Bowl tickets and donated them to the military, SMU's Athletic Department got to keep half of that ticket money.

great example of how corrupt the bowl system is. If they sellout-any alleged damages are fully mitigated. No Court would allow damages for imaginary losses.

I know my family would be in for 10 or more. Mitch would be happy with an Iowa beatdown

How in the world does florida atlantic get into the ticketcity bowl it has to be Cusa or Big 12 vs Big 10, and this year is CUSA. Based on this though, whatever bowl we go to will be the biggest, because nobody cares about flordia atlantic, and Hawaii wont be all that excited to play marshall.

Why in the world did Ticketcity decide to put there game 1 hour from all the big games, they should of put it on Jan 1 at like 6pm. That would be beast, but instead they rather get trounced in tv ratings.
