It's hard to see how this doesn't end Joe Pa's career, regardless of the outcome.
I can absolutely believe that an 80 year old - or even a 70 year old - isn't up on all the details of the goings on of his department, but it doesn't matter. Even the hint of child molestation is enough to send you packing.

Perhaps that's the root of this, at least from the Paterno side. If you work so close with a guy for so long and really think he's not capable of what this person claims, you'd be hesitant to bring it to the police when you know that even a false accusation will ruin your career, even if you are later found not guilty. Push it off on the AD or President and not be the downfall of a friend you believe to be innocent. Not the right way to do it, but quite possible.

If all these allegation are true, which they probably are, and it's proven that the AD and head coach knew about this, should Penn State receive the death penalty?

I think they have to. If USC can lose two bowl games, and we can lose our program for issues of money, what happens to Penn State for an actual crime with national attention? The NCAA is going to come under pressure as this develops.

no way they receive the death penalty; however, this is certainly worse than anything any other school has done barring Baylor basketball.

there is no standing for death penalty. This is to be handled by the courts - it is not an ncaa matter.

I think it should also become an NCAA matter since it involves the folks listed. This is probably a cover up by a lot of senior people at PSU.

This has to become an NCAA matter. In the very least Paterno should lose every win since 1998, thus losing the record, and the team should receive a two season ban. That would be the equivalent to what USC got for the program being affiliated with someone who may or may not have bought Reggie Bush's family a home...

And this is a lot worse than that.

The NCAA has no involvement in this at all. It is an issue for the legal system. It has nothing to do with cheating, player eligibility, recruitment, or extra benefits. It doesn't matter that it is worse than a player taking money from an agent, it is a completely different thing.

That is like saying that if Dutch robbed someone, then the Health Department should shut down his restaurant because what he did was way worse than the joint down the street that had rats in the kitchen.
