GARLAND — Behind a blistering running game, the Longview Lobos rolled up a season-best 49 points to open the postseason with a Class 5A Division II bi-district victory over North Garland on an overcast and chilly Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.

Vondrell McGee rushed for a career-high five touchdowns — four coming in the first half — as the Lobos flexed their No. 5 state ranking with a 49-27 win. It marked Longview’s 11th consecutive victory of the season.

North Garland, out of District 11-5A, finishes its season at 7-4. It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools in football. The Lobos were the 12-5A district champions.

Longview finished with 515 yards total offense, running for 403 behind McGee’s 182 on 16 carries. Quarterback Carlin Freeman completed 6 of 10 passes for 112 yards with one touchdown pass and a two-point conversion throw.

Went to both games yesterday Saw a white Explorer type vehicle in
the parking lot as I was leaving the Lobo game with both SMU, and Lobo
decals on the back window, and wondered if it was Mustangs35SMU
family's.

I wonder if he took your 2 game winning streak pledge as I haven't seen
any posts from him here lately?

Man what a great day it was yesterday!! I still couldnt believe we destoryed North Garland that much..And the fact that (according to Longview's newspaper) we had 17 penalties for 115 yards and still put up 43 points in the first half is just sad.

The Mustangs pulled through...half to admit I got scared towards the end but we did it!

Yep, it was parked a row or 2 back from the entrance, and kinda towards the south of the visitor's side parking lot. Yeah, I was surprised when all those white rags started twirling when the Lobos took the field. I was also surprised that we hung 43 on them in the first half. The Lobos second quarter was a lot like the Mustangs third quarter

Was that you, and another guy that tried to tape ED IS A JO.... and WE BELIE... at the top of the east side before getting told to take it down by the security guards/police? I remember you said you were thinking about
doing something special for the Tulsa game, and maybe it got delayed to the Nevada game. Also your flag, etc. says WE BELIEVE.

O Nope..I was helping the cheerleaders out before the game (because my sister is one and just because I like being by them lmfao)

I was going to do something about saying Support Coach Bennett before the Tulsa game but didnt get there in time sadly

Maybe TCU game to start next season??

After hearing about UT's comeback against Kansas (with a protectionist interference call by the refs ), I switched to the TL Garland game on my radio. It didn't sound so good in the first half for y'all, but I was relieved to read in the DMN this morning that you won.

If the Lobos get by Jesuit next week, we'll probably face Lufkin in most likely Rose Stadium in a couple of weeks. That was a great game 2 years ago.
