First time I met him I saw him in the DFW airport. He was carrying a red carry-on with a big OU on it. I ask him if that stood for Ohio University and he gave me the dumbest look. When I broke out laughing he understood I was putting him on and then we chatted for a while. Met him at different functions later and he never forgot me. Cool dude. Always loved it when he handed the whorens their butt.

I will always be a supporter / defender of Barry Switzer for his comments about SMU during its DP days.

He was the ONLY HC that I am aware of who actually stood up for SMU and told the truth; that SMU was not deserving of the DP.

Imagine that....the MSM repeatedly tars and feathers Switzer over the years, much like the infamous Paterno quote about him, yet he was the only honest person to talk candidly about SMU.

For the record, coaches I remember publically stating SMU deserved its punishment…Jackie Sherrill, Fred Akers, Bobby Knight, Lou Holtz. <<<To this day, I despise all of these clowns.

I have met Barry Switzer a few times, he knows how to work a crowd and when you meet and talk to him he makes you feel like the two of you have been friends forever. I can see why he was such a great recruiter

Have always loved Barry, and I completely forgot about his support for SMU. Anybody have his exact quote on SMU??
I've really enjoyed his visits with Corby on The Ticket 1310.
