C'mon Mima, who are you really? Is this Sir Trolls a Lot? Is it Laura Bush Lover? Are you actually MrMustang1965? This whole trolling the devoted posters of Ponyfans.com bit is getting kind of old for all of us. We all know that no real relative of Mike Cavan would actually take time from their day to spar with this motley crew.
WE NEED TO BELIEVE!!!
Oh, but it is me. I wish that I hadn't visited this site, but unfortunately I did, and ran across a plethora of bitter people and decided to respond. If I don't defend my father, then who will?
I guess I am the only person on here who has enough guts to actually reveal my identity, I must have pretty "thick skin", huh?
Some people have pretty public identities here; we know who they are and don't feel the need to get social security numbers. But I am the guy that was standing next to the guy you screamed at at the SMU-TCU in November 2000. Remember that cold, wet November night. That was the game people were passing out the "Fire Cavan" bumper stickers. We were getting blown out. Frustrating night for everyone, especially your dad and your family and I understand that.
After a blatant late hit out of bounds, my buddy jumped up and yelled "C'mon Cavan, where's the discipline?" And you yelled, "You idiot! If you knew anything about football..." After that, you went into the suites. We stayed outside in the cold rain and watched our cross-town rivals beat the tar out of us. Good times. Things really haven't changed much on our end. We still stink. Wish your dad had the looser recruiting restrictions Bennett has. Best of luck to you and your dad. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Good point Dooby, Mima is obviously a very sensitive troll.
However, to you question Mima, I'm fairly certian that the guy who posts as "RogersHealey" is Rogers Healey and they guy who posts as "Eddie P" is an SMU grad named Eddie P. Mr. Mustang1965, as we all know, is Jim Mustang who was born in 1965. Dooby is the fantasy character from the Harry Potter series (did you not know the actor who portrayed him was an SMU grad?) I'm obviously a really fat guy who prefers not to use his name but is not afraid of revealing some personal physical information. Um, PK is not afraid to use his initials, Stallion of course picked that nickname up in his college days and Lamont Cranston is pretty self explanitory. Do I need to make it more clear? WE NEED TO BELIEVE!!!
.....scapegoats make us all feel better!!!!!!!! Mike Cavan is still EASILY the winniest coach in SMU History since the Death Penalty-and he never really had a chance despite what the MANY uninformed on this board might want to believe. We sure as hell didn't find a coach who "could motivate the Boys and teach fundamentals" any better based on our record the last 3 years. Almost all the geniuses on this board predicted winning seasons under Bennett based simply discipline, fundamentals and motivation of our existing players. Boy that dream didn't last long did it. Only a handful said what most refused to hear-that SMU's admission standards had made it impossible to excell agaiinst their natural and traditional rivals. Their hero is a guy who never beat Rice Institute, never had a winning record and enjoyed seasons with 1 win, 2 wins, 1 win, 1 win in 4 out of his 6 years-what a joke. Phil Bennett himself has previously stated he would never have taken the job Mike Cavan took when was hired because SMU didn't have a reasonable opportunity for success. The fact that 95% of those on this board didn't even realize what a graveyard this coaching job was tells it all.
This is for "Dooby". Yes I do recall that game that you mentioned very well. Actually your friend never mentioned anything about discipline when he was spouting off. He did however say over and over again how my dad's play calling "sucked". Maybe it did, but I certainly don't have to sit there and listen to someone say hurtful things about my family. My mother was sitting right next to me almost in tears due to years and years of frustration, and I could not take it anymore. Also, my exact words were "I seriously doubt you have ever even played a down of football in your life, you idiot." Also, I did not go up to the suites, I went down to the sidelines so I wouldn't have to listen to people like your friend. If I wouldn't have removed myself from the situation, more things would have been said, and I know that my dad would not have approved. Obviously by now you know how I feel in regards to my dad. I know that sometimes I can take things a little too personally, but when it comes to my family, that's just the way it is. I am sooo sorry to have ruined your "Bash and Blame Cavan Party" and I promise to never post here again. Go Ponies
Re:Wrong, RFG. If you'll search the archives at Fondren and get a copy of the December 1965 issue of The Mustang (alumni magazine), you'll see that pic on the left on the cover. That's my mug at the age of 8 getting kissed by a gorgeous SMU cheerleader. My name's on the inside cover of the magazine.
Re:
Congrats Mimi, As Ramda Guys, I am sure you are correct in the assesment they did not ever play football. If it was sipping wine or clothes shopping, that would certainly be a different story. They could even teach the Kappa's or Theta's a lesson in those subjects. If they could only marry Sir Trolls
re: The fact that 95% of those on this board didn't even realize what a graveyard this coaching job was tells it all
Stallion the genius says SMU is a "graveyard" but then almost in the same sentence he hammers Josh for leaving the "graveyard". Go figure!
Re:
Luckily for us, giacfsp, the mods don't rely on your opinion as to what is relevant for discussion on this board. I hope you go the way of John Ashcroft and other anti-free speech advocates: out the door. WE NEED TO BELIEVE!!!
Re:
What Stallion isn't telling you, and most of you know, that Forrest Gregg, and Tom Rossley had very gradual build up starting at fraternity league level to a couple of 5-6 seasons in 92, and 96 after the Death Penalty. Cavan managed to win one more for a winning record in 97 with the gradual climb for a winning record with previous coaching staff talent. Its been all down hill since then until this year after we hit 0-12 rock bottom last year. Stallion may say that: Mike Cavan is still EASILY the winniest coach in SMU History since the Death Penalty- but it doesn't mean Bull [deleted].
nope! we were 1-9-1 in 1994 and 1-10 in 1995 ending with a 10 game losing streak before Rossley's "magical" 5-6 season in the WAC. In other words the great Tom Rossley won 7 of his last 33 games. Wow! No one who calls Rossley a great coach can possibly argue with me that SMU's own recruiting restrictions made it impossible to compete on an equal playing field.
