at one point, we had 4 guards and Rob on the floor; I don't think they were overly concerned about controlling the boards
Not to mention Smith & Williams are our two best rebounders positionally, I'd think. Our biggest issue is going to be no go-to big on the blocks, when we need points, and taming the depth. We have a lot of quality talent, but running 12 a night isn't an option. Its counterproductive to team, despite giving quality youth some run. Opening Night AwardsTop Newcomer: Jalen Jones- super athlete, some range. plays w/swag Same as it Ever Was: Nyuk & Frog-Keep on keepin on, fellas Most Slept On During Offseason: Frost Clinkscales- people forget that Frost was 3rd leading scorer much of last season, until Robo gave all his minutes to Walker. Kid is a good scorer per minute played Ruh-Roh:: Ricmonds Vilde- vilde played just fine in the minutes he was given, but I expected far more minutes. Minus a legit big, we're gonna have some ugly stretches.

No question. This team is going to be very frustrating this year. I can see us knocking off Stanford and Oklahoma State yet losing to TCU, Rice, and Houston. If Nyakundi is hot we win, if not we lose. That is what happens when you rely on a small lineup.

Looked like Cunningham was playing some of the minutes as the 'big'

He's a little thicker than I remember him a few summers ago. Certainly a big in this system, but needs to temper the want to swat stuff to the point of getting 8 fouls in 2 minutes. Can't afford him playing like a frosh defensively lol

My guess would be Norman , clink will come off the bench only in spot situations for set up plays..going to be tough for sure.
Maybe doh goes back to his 5 subs at once like he learned from Dean

Yes! Pep bands are used by most schools and really add to the overall atmosphere.
Absolutely. GiddyUp - check out some basketball on TV this year. The bands really get the crowds going at some places and that contributes to home court advantage

Clinkscale is out, hurt his foot last night, was on crutches today. No timetable for his return.

Wish we had Clink, hopes he gets back soon, but more Manuel plz. I'm already petrified of Doh getting nuts w/the rotation

He was playing people only because of the lead; however, I don't think he knows who is 7-9 guys are until the last guys gain eligibility in December.

I'm the "rookie" to SMU basketball, but I was surprised at how deep into the bench he played guys. I know it's still early and he's just evaluating, but no good team plays more than 8 (+/-) come January. Any thoughts on who makes the cut??
This is going to be a real issue, cause Doh is from that Dean Smith 'blue team' nonsense. Any chance he's had to go 10 deep and just wholesale rotate, he's gone nuts w/it. Last year, we had no depth whatsoever, so the bench was trim/clean, and everyone had a role. This year is like mix & match 13 deep. Could be an issue, especially cause Smith & Williams will demand major burn when they join the active roster

we had run 11 out there, when only up 12. frankly, I was surprised how high Jalen/Cannen were in the rotation, and how low Vilde was. Like you said, it gets turned on its ear in a month

And it could be that we have games on back to back games coming up in the NIT, so testing the depth out against a crappy team makes a lot of sense...
