June Jones Supporters...Let's Hear it!!!!!!

Post by shadowman »

Pitiful offense,

Hold Navy to 24...you should blow them out...

We lost why?

Because this "run and shoot" blows...

You let an undersized, poorly ranked defense shut you down like that, the problem is you, not them.

This offense is bad...predictable, slow, out of date......ask all those teams that put 40 plus on defense how they did it...I bet it wasnt from the run and shoot....

For 2 million dollars, we can do better...Come on Ponyfans...a loss at home to a 3-6 Navy team should cure you of your June Jones Man Crush....

Similar yes, but everyone else took the run and shoot and made it better...June still runs the 80's version that everyone figured out how to stop in the 90s

Think about it people, we pay June 2 million dollars a year...for a coach in the WAC from a school that played a soft schedule.

I bet 2 million dollars could do much better than that.

I agree with this but who are some options?

The DE for Navy was pretty good.

The argument is that we are still ahead of schedule. Usually, a rebuilding job takes 4-5 seasons. Before we hired our coach would you have expected the team to win more than it has in year 4? I am as upset as anyone over the teams play the last several games, but realistically I did expect 7 wins at the beginning of the season. If we take care of business against Rice, we will be right there. Today's loss is probably the most frustrating of them all given that Navy has not had a good season and we still had our chances. Texas A&M, Southern Miss, Tulsa, TCU, and Houston are all better teams than SMU at this juncture so there really is no shame in losing those right now. Once our recruiting classes of 2010, 2011, and this year start to mature and we are able to add on in the next few years, then we will be evenly matched talent-wise. Our biggest hole right now is QB play and Preston should be an upgrade and then we will have major upgrades in subsequent seasons. Again, in the words of Coach Reinebold "We're not where we want to be but we are much better than where we were." Ponyup and don't watch next week as it will be very ugly.

The offense is dated and we are mediocre with a [deleted] poor QB. That's it.
Back off Warchild seriously.

For the record, I am not a big June Jones fan, I am a huge SMU fan. However, I always like to preach patience. I was in the camp for giving Bennett a 6th year to prove himself and think that JJ deserves the opportunity to prove himself with a talented squad. After all, talent-wise this should be our firs season of bowl eligibility. I have had to temper my expectations as much as anyone especially after the TCU game.

We would be ahead of schedule if we were staying in CUSA and not going to the Big East. Since were are then that changes things. Our classes for 2010 and 2011 are top rated CUSA classes but not top rated Big East classes (they are okay but not top rated) which is how we should be thinking now. Also, remember that we don't know if Mooreland has qualified yet.

I hear what you are saying but we lost to 2 lesser talented teams in Navy and Tulsa (I don't think Tulsa has the talent we do from top to bottom IMO). Just saying.

All the more reason why patience is needed. Over the next few seasons I expect to see our talent to improve and our record to plateau as we face stiffer competition. The hope is that we can continue to improve our recruiting year after year and finally break out for some special seasons.

Similar plays yes, but NFL teams don't use the pure R&S as a base. NFL teams run diverse offenses with TEs, FBs and the ability to do things from under center. June Jones is too stubborn to adapt.
