D not prepared - Really???

Post by BRStang »

It amazes me that they were completely unprepared for the triple option. What did you expect, June? Just like Army in the AFB. JJ didn't prepare the well enough. If you don't prepare for that top of offense, you LOSE, especially when you are C-USA, June. Another embarrassment. We could not stop them and that part of it falls on the coaches--AGAIN.

Hold Navy to 24 points, you should blow them out...Its not Defense, its pitiful...sucky...predictable offense...

I was upset too. I kept seeing a lot of defensive mistakes. Thank goodness for the good plays they had or it would've been much worse.

Oh, don't get me wrong...I know our offense stunk it up and McPooPoo make you want to yell at him...JJ's clock mgmt skills are just behind Les Miles...and we have no idea how to run a hurry up o...but our D was unprepared. We could not stop them...they had no clue. Totally unacceptable and that falls on the coaches. D was frustrated that they had no answer to triple option.

Poor game plan on the part of the coaches - awful. The kids must be really frustrated. This was awful.

D was not the best, but they held them to 24. Offense gave up the ball and failed to do anything twice in the redzone

Navy had 328 yards total offense-well below their average in both Total Offense and scoring. They average 31 ppg. Its the Offense that couldn't even execute its offense because well it was breezy. I watch a lot of Navy football-nobody really stops them

Yeah, this loss isn't on the defense. Sits squarely on #15's shoulders.

Really? So coaching is what makes our corners and safties not make any plays against the run(except the crawford great play in the second quarter)?

We had a lot of guys not fighting through blocks because they are waiting for the cut. We have linebackers that are moving 5 yards backwards to dodge the cut instead of fight through it.

I don't think you can blame the coaches if the players are not putting the full fight in. Everyone was more concerned with getting hurt than making a play. And the only one who got pissed and tried to fight back was 93. Everyone else just backed off and didn't fight.

That might be an exaggeration, and I hate calling players out (see the QB thread), but I saw a lot of backing off out there. And that isn't on the coaches.

That said, we did only give up 24 points when our offense was ineffective for large parts of the game, so I don't think you can blame the defense, just like the Southern Miss game.

I wanted to congratulate Navy for a minute. Those RBs, those blockers on the edge and those WRs blocking downfield were firce. Seriously they wanted it more than we did. Well coached offense. They punched us the mouth. I was seriously impressed how hard they played on the edge

Our defense did well enough to win. McDermott has been studying BLM's game film apparently. Choked the game away.

There were a lot of missed assignments and defenders getting caught flat-footed even a few dumb penalties but overall the defense got some stops and gave the offense plenty of chances (which they blew more often than not).

What truly amazes me is the fact that Coach Tom Mason can't figure out way to beat a Service academy team. I understand our offense sucked tonight, but, Tom your D can't let Navy go 78 and 79 yards on back to back possessions for a score RUNNING THE FOOTBALL. Absolutely inexcusable.
