this is where McDermott is really hurting this offense; LBs are able to take deep drops because there is no fear that McDermott will leave the pocket...and definitely won't consider crossing the line of scrimmage

Exactly! You have to be a pretty horrible defensive team to give up a big pass from McDermott.

Great post....We definitely threw for more yardage sizeways and backwards than we did going down the field. and this was against Navy, a team that was abused by the pass all year...
