Great quote:
“I want Bryan to be a leader,†said Tubbs. “He’s somewhat quiet by nature, but I want him to be more vocal. He needs to be a leader on and off the court. He’s a great talent, but we still need for him to work on improving his game. He’s a good shooter, but I think he can be a great shooter. As our point guard, we need him to improve his decisionmaking and assist-to-turnover ratio. It was around one-to one last season, but I want it to be three-to-one or better.†Hopkins needs to improve his point play this year, big time.
True. But someone has to help Hop and become a scorer this year. A high turnover to assist ratio is inevitable when your PG is the team’s leading scorer by 6 points more than the next leading scorer.
Last year’s scoring leaders: Hop - 17.7 pts Simpson – 11.3 pts Castro – 9.9 pts
The player that must step up for us this year in order to be successful is Isham. He is a great talent athletically, however, has been too inconsistent in the past seasons. His improvement (3 point shooting & driving the ball to the hoop) and steadfastness should only benefit Hopkins by us having two 'slashers' instead of one. In past seasons we have relied too much on only B-Hop's ability to penetrate defenses on the permiter. Also, having two players that can attack the defense would limit the defenses ability to double team B-Hop and further open passing lanes to big men for easier layups.
