I agree with Stallion and RepublicanPNY (although next year will be slightly better IMHO ... the dline worries me more than anything else next year).

Anyway, apples to apples we have a bit more talent at this point versus Navy (not much more though), but my theory is that our guys just get overconfident and complacent (I know they SHOULDN'T since we haven't beaten them) and don't take them seriously enough, which I agree that that part is on coaching. BUT we have too many on this team not prideful/competitive enough yet to get it done ON THE FIELD (talent doesn't overcome the attitude) ... next year and beyond I think will be a different story but who knows. Navy is just one of those teams that seem to have our number (SHOULD beat them on paper but this SMU team is just too much of a mish-mash of some talented players coupled with plenty of mediocre players that just don't have the fire inherently and/or pure talent to overcome it ... certainly we are improving and we turn the corner next year is my expectation ... trying to stay positive ... most disappointing game of the year for me so far unless we get beat by Rice. ;-)

Most disappointing: Navy, Tulsa, AM, SoMiss in that order

You're not worried about losing all 5 starters from the O-line?

Yes, we will miss the chemistry no doubt ... but their talent is very over-rated by some IMHO ...

This coaching staff is incapable of even slowing down the Navy option. That is well documented. They are over-rated.

Dline will be fine with Pit and Hunt returning as anchors. It's the Oline you need to be worrying about. other than Collins and Gottshalk (sp?), it's a complete rebuild.
