Hope the team is preparing for the Hurry Up Offense
You know it's coming and it will burn us badly if the team doesn't practice long and hard to defend it. Would suck for our defense to get completely dominated by this on game day.
On a side note, it would be awesome to see more trick plays like the wildcat formation where Beas easily ran it in for a score. That play gave us a little taste of how much more of a threat our offense could be with a QB who runs quicker than my grandpa.

Re: Hope the team is preparing for the HUPO
A quick search of the board confirms my feeling that you are the ONLY person who uses this expression. And you use it quite a bit. Do you own the brand or something, and you are working on merchandising? Care to explain what the hell you mean?
I assume HU is hurry up.
PO is... Passing offense?

I actually learned the term from PF. I figured it stood for Hurry UP Offense. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Hope the team is preparing for the Hurry Up Offense
We tried our version of the hurryup a few times on Saturday....it was sort of like watching the fastest runner in the 3-legged race, but it was a better pace than usual.
I'm not as worried about our D on Saturday as I am our offense...3 and outs cannot happen against Houston. If we want ANY shot at winning we need to score on 80%+ of our drives and hope to keep them under 40.

Re: Hope the team is preparing for the Hurry Up Offense
In the past we have been aware of teams running the hurry-up and seem to have done little to prepare for it. I doubt if we will do anything special for this game as well. Not trying to be negative- just factual.
GO PONIES!!!

We're just not talented enough or conditioned well enough to stop a HUNO team. We're definitely going to need to run the ball more than we pass it to beat Houston, the draw alone is too hit or miss to get anything substantial done. The 3 teams that gave Houston the most trouble all had multiple running threats (including the QB).
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

I just find it hard to believe we don't have a 2nd running back that can block other than Line. A Shawnbrey type guy along with Zach would change how people play us. It's not that hard to teach someone how to pass block. I'm sorry, it's just not.

Re: Hope the team is preparing for the Hurry Up Offense
What's so oxymoronic is that the R&S should be the penultimate Hurry Up Offense. It takes a QB that can do quick reads and check downs, combined with four receivers running a limited set of patterns that are adjusted by their reading the defense, and a set back that either blocks, runs, or releases into a read seam. However, our structure calls for the QB after each play to come over and kibitz with our BFF. "Boy did you see that Wahine over in section 124?" Comm'on June, I love my Ponies and I want to believe. But your making it harder and harder as each game goes by.

will need defensive depth...and some long drives on offense to make this a competitive game
