Beating Houston would be big (2nd road win over a ranked team this season) but it won't make up for the 4 ugly losses nor will it get us back to the C-USA title game.

You don't think the lemmings are happy if we go to 7-4 with two wins over ranked teams and a hapless Rice coming the following week? They'll be urging us to contact the SEC again.

Happy but they can't be possibly be that blind to our struggles. Though I'm not that plugged into the sunshine-pumpers. If we win I'm going to be wondering where that kind of effort was during the losses.

I cant beleive ppl want june gone hell it isnt even a losing season .O well I will ask again just try to name five coachs who are better than june who would want to come to SMU and replace him go ahead take your time and THINK about it

I can't name one which is why June will be here as long as he wants. Even if we get to the BE I can't think of any successful HC at another AQ program who would want to make a lateral move (at best) to come here. We'd likely be reduced to internal promotion, hiring a retread, hiring another non-AQ coach or hiring a coordinator.

After our first loss ppl started being little girls and crying i asked that question last month and about five times since then with no one stepping up to answering. Here is the deal guys we all love SMU and think we should win it all in a few years but that aint reality.we are only just now climbing back to being a great program and if I havent said it enough let me say it again we are doing good now because of JUNE JONES you D bags.As far as im concered he has earned the right to one or two losing seasons wich this isnt even a losing season so stop hating or name some one who would come here and do a better job the he has. Bunch of daaamn cry babies where were all of yall 4 or five years ago huh the only compasion i can make to how important a hire JJ was for SMU is when LSU hired Saban the both had Drastic and succesful changes to each program.Only abouyt a hand full of coachs could have done what June has for us and those guys wouldnt have even answered our phone calls

For ponyboy and other who support JJ. The supposition you made was how could or would SMU fire Jones if he would go 7-4 in C-USA this year. Why don't you check out Hayden Fry's record for the year '71-'72 in the SWC. And, Hayden has a little bit better legacy than JJ will be able to achieve in the NCAA.
Im for JJ, but like the comment on another thread, I think he shouldnt be too boastful about himself. I really hope and pray he has some loyalty to the school. I mean I feel his heart is with Hawaii and hes just creating a beautiful nest egg and hopeful bragging rights, so he can return back to Hawaii. I mean I get hes frustrated with the academic restriction (and I am too) but thats just how the game has to be played. I want him to discipline some of these players, nobody under any circumstance should play like zombies, especially consistently. I will always be grateful for Jones, but I dont want him to take SMU for granted. I want him to self improve his game plan, and take some risks with new players to replace some of these baby zombies out in the field. Because this team has caused others and this fan to be looking forward to next season than actually finishing out this one.

No, Rice runs an option oriented offense, we will struggle mightily with Rice like we did before June and have continued to do with June.
v. Rice 2007 - L 42-43 @ Rice 2008 - L 27-56 v. Rice 2009 - W 31-28 @ Rice 2010 - W 42-31
I think we beat Rice, but they are anything but hapless against us.
OK- finally had to respond about some things. First- I am a JJ fan. I appreciate what he has done for SMU. I sincerely doubt that any other coach could have done the same. Second- I am disappointed that he has no love for our university. I understand the 'lei' issue but I have never felt he viewed this as anything than another job to pad his bank account. Third- yes, IMO there are coaches who could take over from here and build a more successful team. For example, Urban Meyer. OK - he might not return any phone calls but people have asked who could come here and do better. There are others I am sure but they just don't come to mind at the moment.
In short, we need to progress- the rest of this season and next. If at the end of next season we have not seen significant improvement in player attitude and enthusiasm then perhaps the C of C needs to have some discussions with JJ to determine the future direction.
Jones will leave when he wants to leave and it will be too late for half and too soon for the other half. But regardless of which half you are in, our system is in a position when it is time, to hire a coach who wants to be here and is of substance. For that I thank Jones and Orsini both.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
