Money. we bought postseason games last March instead i am guessing. Probably a good move when we could just schedule McMurry and call it a 'real game' anyway.

WTF? one of the worst season opening losses ever for SMU basketball and just ridiculous (McMurry was really a glorified exhibition). I understand we have some young players but we still have Nyk, Clinkscales and Losh who are all experienced 22 year olds and Frog started 25+ games last season. Has Doh signed his extension yet? just give him a lifetime contract.

I only listened to the game, maybe you were there, but I'm guessing you weren't. Clinkscales didn't play at all. Losh is not experienced (8.3 mins a game since he became eligible halfway through last year. So CSU played a team you had not heard of, and only beat them by double digits and that is supposed to translate into how bad we must have been tonight? This is the pre-season NIT, there is something more than the win to play for tonight. Our kids are just getting to know what games are like. They had their shooting boots on, we didn't. Free throws killed us, as did 3 pointers. Nyk fell into foul trouble early. I'm just glad to see Jalen and Cotton have good games. We got out rebounded, badly, but playing our kind of game we will.

I see no reason to panic, I see a much more able team this year than last, and I don't propose to worry until we are playing conference games.

Silver lining: no one was at Stanford to witness that mess.

you must be kidding, but i will only respond about Losh. I didn't say he was a multiyear letterman for good ole SMU. I said he was older and experienced...as in Juco, international play etc. throw in Cotton who is a transfer who practiced with us for a year and Vilde too and there isn't much excuse for that kind of performance against an at best mid-level D-1 opponent.

Great post game dinner with RGV and GiddyUp somewhat made up for a poor game experience. I would be otherwise depressed following our debacles againt Navy and now CO St but the soccer team coming from no where to a 6th NCAA seed means I am at peace for at least a few hours. Our group will be courtside again tomorrow for a much better result against Fresno St who lost to Stanford tonight.

Is it time to can Doherty? What happened to his 4 year plan that was supposed to follow what Coach K did at Duke? This guy is terrible and isn't going to get the job done. We are going to lose every game in the Big East by atleast 60.

I think we will see improvement this season. You can tell there is not much chemistry yet. Doh got onto Losh for not cutting hard enough, to Cotton for ad-libbing and not running the offense, Dunleavy pointed out Vilde wasnt rolling hard enough after setting high screens etc. Doh told Nyuk in first half he was disappointed in his defense...Nyuk got frustrated & IMO tried to hard after that and wound up in foul trouble. Doh got onto Cotton in the second half for half-a$$ing after a loose ball. These things will improve with more game situations.

Last five minutes were fun to watch with Cotton & 4 frosh on the court..they probably played with the most energy of any set rolled out there.
