This football season feels a lot like last year. The team seems to have a swoon in the 7th through 10th games of the year where we lose three out of four games.
2010:
Navy loss
Houston loss
Tulane win
UTEP loss
2011:
Southern Miss loss
Tulsa loss
Tulane win
Navy loss
Having this late season swoon has cost us dearly the last two years and is the difference between having a good season and a great season.
Why is it that we are having these melt downs going down the stretch. Some may argue that the teams we play are better in this stretch. Others may say that injuries play a part as the team gets worn down. Others may argue that it is a lack of focus.
Shouldn't we be getting better and jelling as a team with our offense having more reps? Clearly, we should be scoring more points so I am placing the blame on the offense.
Discuss amongst yourselves.

Two things:
1. Thank god for Tulane.
2. I would contend a good season is 9 or 10 wins and a great season is 11+. 6, 7 or 8, especially when you need to win a bowl game to get to 8, is average. This team is looking a 7 wins season squarely in the mouth. If we win out and get to 9, I would call that a good season. If we want to be taken seriously as a program, we need to consistently put up 10+ win seasons, and some day reach the top of the mountain with a one loss or undefeated season.

RE Tycoon, I think you're right. The problem around here was many at the season's start thought this was an 8-4, 7-5 type team. We go out and upset TCU in their house and beat (what was thought) a good UCF team at home. All of the sudden everyone here is thinking we are Boise or TCU of the past. We started hilarious talk about how we could end up in a BCS game. McD was the answer.
Now the team is starting to come back to what we really thought they were (albeit I think most of us thought we would beat Navy), an average to good team. We can still play with anyone in our conference. We are more than capable of winning out. But there is no middle ground for our fans. It's either we are the greatest thing ever let's build a statue to JJ or it's this team is worthless, has no heart, they never try, fire JJ, etc.
We are what we thought we were at the beginning of the season. Next year we need to take the next step to be an 8-4, 9-3 or even 10-2 type team. With that said those predictions might change if we are playing a BE schedule and Tulane gets dropped from our schedule.
