I don't as they are the same people that went to Hawaii and TCU. Go to enough of these games and eventually you get rewarded. As a Houston resident I have had to witness 2 wins and 6 losses. I count the win over UH in 2005 as one of my best memories.

don't feel sorry for them; they are among our most hard core fans and have suffered for 20 plus years. I'm sure they want to be there is SMU beats a top ranked team on national TV
As someone who drove home in stunned silence after the Rice loss in 2006, I can honestly say that there is no way any kind of loss at UH on Saturday will feel worse than that. That may very well have been the low point of my SMU fandom.

Twice...1st and goal from the 1 for the bowl game. I wasn't a fan yet in 97, but it's hard to imagine that it was worse, especially considering the drive home right after.

Agreed. Their D is terrible, but unfortunately our offense has been equally bad recently. If we can score 75-80% of the time and hold them under 45 we might have a fighting chance, but it will be tough.
If the go BCS I fully expect a Hawaii-like performance, though.

Losing to a TCU team that was 0-10 to not make a bowl game was worse.
I really didn't ever expect us to win the Rice game in 2006. Too many years of watching blown leads in the 4th quarter I guess, and for whatever reason, Rice always had our number after the DP. Rice, who had a halfway decent team that year, on the road...Didn't see it happening. I still stayed home from a wedding and sat by myself at my uncle's house in ohio to watch the game on the crappy cstv internet feed though....just in case.
After going to the Tulsa and Rice debacles, I decided to forgo any more pain and just eat my Houston tickets. I am now having second thoughts. May do the same as Pony Scott. Kids need our support.

thoughts mustangbill67! It's really important IMHO to at least have a good representation at UH even if its not just for the game or for JJ's sake. It may be a big deal about the BE announcement and what if.....just what if?....SMU should actually knock them off and there is no one there to jump the field? Its a bigger deal than just this game....mustangbill67 I left you a pm

Your post is just anecdotal evidence that in life there are times when you disagree with someone who is clearly right.
LOL...this game may be bigger than in the grand scheme of SMU things than we know...
And this team is a Dr Jeckel and Mr Hyde and could pull it off as they did vs TCU -------as UH doesn't have such a great D and they really haven't played anyone. So what IF the SMU team from TCU shows up?
I have read all the posts here about reasons why you won't be going to the game on Saturday, and it's simply heart breaking to me and discouraging to the players. I don't know what's happened to them, that's not the point. The point is, they need our support no matter what. Unfortunately I stupidly waited until Monday to purchase a ticket and now there aren't any. I can't afford the cost of the tickets on stubhub because on my retired teacher's budget I've been traveling to the games and buying tickets for my kids, their friends and some other friends for all the home games and now there just isn't any additional money. I suffered great humiliation the last time we played at UH when beer was thrown on me because I was cheering for my boys, but I promised them I would still be there this time and it is killing me to have to break that promise. If I had the ability to purchase a ticket for the game I would be there. You guys that can, please come down and support our Mustangs!!!
