They were more exciting than our current team.

Yes, and Tom was pretty successful at GB when he didn't have his hands tied.

Tom Rossley was a great coach. Especially considering the challenges that he had.

You mean back in the days when there were 11 games and it took more than 6 wins to go to a bowl? Back before we played in a pushover conference?

Just checking.

The better question (IMHO) is how many current recruits/players could have gotten accepted to SMU during that time.

At least Ramon could hit a receiver down field and he could run and make exciting plays. True we weren't going to beat Texas or A&M or TT too often. But we could stir up some excitement and we seldom played any cupcakes.

i will say this. i don't ever remeber any team of rossley's quitting.

that team against navy looked like they would rather be anywhere else but where they were.
i think they hate playing navy which is an attitude the d coordinator has expressed. that has to affect the players.
i hate playing them too but we could end up in the be playing af and navy. not a pretty thought.

If we do end up in BE with Navy and/or AFA, we better have a different D package or recruit certain types of D players for that game. No need for soft DB's or pure pass rushers against Navy. Need run stoppers, crashing safeties, and an entirely different mentality from the spread offenses that we normally face.

Game 2 of the 1995 season. Navy 33 SMU 2. Game 3 of the same season. Wisconsin 42 SMU 0. And Wyoming 1996. I've blocked that game from memory so I don't recall the score. It was so cold some guys didn't want to come out at halftime. When we did come out most stood huddled by heaters or wearing jackets on the sidelines. There are three examples.

My point is that no coach is perfect and things happen in the lockerroom that general fans aren't aware of that causes teams to quit.

I remember a Rossley game where Baylor DID NOT THROW A FORWARD PASS.

Do you miss the Defense that could not even stop Rice's Option attack? How many years post DP did it take to beat Rice? RICE?

Come on.
