This article is popping up on twitter with the hash-tag #bigeast

It does say Basketball could be a future consideration.
This would be the first time I have seen that

Where do the other sports land?

I wasn't sure. It dosnt have the blogger reporter feel, but I think the reporter is a little light on knowledge of the situation.
Another Tid Bit I just found on http://www.deseretnews.com
Former National Football League commissioner Paul Tagliabue, Notre Dame, Big East commissioner John Marinatto, and the league's expansion committee are lobbying hard for BYU to join the Big East, said Williams, who has had dealings with that conference since the 1980s.
Notre Dame is an independent in football, but it has a vested interest in the Big East because all of its other sports compete in that conference. Tagliabue, a graduate of Georgetown of the Big East, serves as an unpaid consultant for the league.
"He has a lot at stake because he's an alum of the Big East. And if there's anyone that knows the networks well, Tagliabue does," Williams said. "He basically negotiated in excess of $17 billion worth of television contracts. There's not a network person that he does not know. Having an unpaid consultant like him is not a bad thing. One of the key elements here is that high-ranking representatives at Notre Dame are working with Tagliabue to make sure that Boise State, BYU and Air Force all understand that they're not going anywhere. Their plans are to stay and to help build the Big East into a stronger conference. Of course, they're also not going to join as a football team."

Total fabrication. Its already cut for ALL sports.

The deal still could fall through, I suppose, but the way it is structured at the moment, our invitation is supposed to include all sports.

I have read the same thing on some of the BEbbs. I do not believe it has any credibility as that would have been a complete turnaround of ideas from the original concept. BTW- IIRC it also said the same about cougar high.

Not a done deal. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We are almost there. But it's not 100% done. We are over a month into the speculation and still no official announcement.
Back off Warchild seriously.

PANIC Alert.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Re: Football only for SMU in Big East
This would be the ideal week for an announcement- just before the SMU-cougar high game.
If we don't hear it by game time then I would start to be concerned that there are some major issues and the move could possibly fall through.

Who knows....but my father-in-law played at ND with Steve O. They were talking about how much fun it will be to have Notre Dame come play SMU in the Olympic sports, so as of last weekend we were all sports per steve. He also said they hoped to announce it this week before game day........but they have said that just about every week now.

@Wordmandc #BigEast Expansion remains on track. Conference Reps were on hand at #BSU-#TCU & #NAVY-#SMU as well as #BYU-#IDAHO. Talks remain positive...
