"Wasted a Week"
Our own DC Mason essentially made the point last night on the Stampede that I have been making for not shecduling Navy middle of the year. Said it was a "wasted week" for our defense, especially when have to play Houston next week, and it increased chances of injury. Could not have said it better.
My biggest concern is the injury angle, but if we still have to play them again lets do it early in season or right before our bye week so our team can heal and get Navy game plan out of their minds during bye week. Can we do better with future scheduling ??

Re: "Wasted a Week"
I thought you were going to say you "wasted a week" following all this #bigeast realignment news. I have not only wasted a week following all this news, I've wasted the last two months. Granted, if/when SMU makes an announcement to the big east, I will consider it time well spent!

Things have gone completely dark on BE realignment. All eyes on BYU.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Re: "Wasted a Week"
That's the tough part about playing option teams. Not many run the option anymore so you waste a week preparing for an offense you'll never see again, and the injury factor. But it's also why schools like Navy/AFA run the option. Much tougher to prepare and doesn't take the athletes or size to compete against your opponents. The kicker is, they can scare really good teams but those teams have enough athleticism to overcome their discipline mistakes and make plays from behind or out of position.
Oh, the BE is a done deal!

I know one thing..I was wasted at that game
Re: "Wasted a Week"
What was the excuse for So Miss and Tulsa? You only get a week to prepare for most matchups and it was a good thing we had an extra week to prepare for TCU. The injury risks from cut blocks is a valid arguement, but I don't think we forgot how to play defense or wasted a week because we prepared for a Navy option threat. The only prep needed for UH is speed work in the middle and safety positions. The rest is which McDermott shows up.
How about we not scedule anyone we are going to lose to......Oh, wait, UH already grabbed that schedule.

our defense wasn't 1/10th of the problem McDermott was. and I don't think that was because of the wishbone offense. it was because he sucks.

Amen!
Re: "Wasted a Week"
Last I heard we play in the same conference as you guys so what is all this about a weak schedule? Two out of the four OOC teams we played are softies, however we handled a UCLA team that has also beaten Cal and ASU and is loaded with NFL talent. The game was not as close as the socres indicates. La tech is also pretty solid. They took USM down to the wire and we had to make a comeback to win. They are in position to challenge for their conference championship.
Not arguing it has been a tough scehdule but smu would be underdogs against 2 of the 4 OOC teams we played.

How many ranked treams will you have faced this season before a bowl game? ZERO! We will have faced 3.
You have not played the two conf teams that beat us. We handled UTEP, you did not. You are a very good team but you have also not played anyone. UCLA has been a huge dissapointment.

Re: "Wasted a Week"
Waste week??? Such BS. Every week is a different week. I hate coach-speak. Stand up and say your defense couldn't stop them when it counted. Two 78 yard drives. All runs. Suck it up Mason. BS ! How about, "they whipped our [deleted] tonight."

Re: "Wasted a Week"
No doubt SMU got a much tougher CUSA schedule and UH got the perfect CUSA schedule. With the rotating quads not all schedules are created equal. SMU also on the road to UH, Southern Miss and Tulsa
