Irish will not join as a full FB member because they schedule Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, USC and Stanford every year. However, they currently play Navy and Air Force each year and have a new round robin with BYU.

I believe ND wants the BE to succeed for BB and all sports and will provide further assistance by adding old and new BE schools, since I would expect them to gladly give up departing BE members, Pittsburgh and BC and other ACC teams to fill their remaining 3-4 games per year.

Not sure about BC as it is Catholics vs Catholics, but certainly the other two.

I agree on the symbolism of ND and BC, but perhaps the BE is motivated to ask ND for a little pay back, since BC left BE a couple of years ago. In any case, Pittsburgh is probably off their schedule, as would be the Wake Forests and Marylands from 2011. They would do that to help the BE, replacing them with Rutgers, USF, etc.

The Yahoo! Contributor Network allows writers, photographers, and videographers to share their knowledge and passion with hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Find your audience and earn money by publishing your unique perspectives on Associated Content and other Yahoo! sites.

Just like Bleacher Reports anyone can sign up and become a "writer." The author of this article claims to have a PhD in Holistic Nutrition, and likes to write about celebrities, top 25 list of movies, and waterfalls. I know people are desperate for sports news, but at least check to see where it is coming from.

Maybe I should just make an account and start posting complete nonsense on the Yahoo! Contributor Network until people finally get a clue of what is news and what is just random people hitting a keyboard so people will give them their attention. People probably would still try to defend the "article" they post about SMU joining the Lone Star Conference or SMU merging with UNT as real news.

between SMU and Houston, Notre Dame might be willing to make Texas trips in the future to help their recruiting

They used to play the service academies and Northwestern every year too. I think SC is the only game that they consider sacred. Having said that, they don't like to travel, and when they do they don't like to go to far from South Bend. The BE might be a geographic stretch for a team used to what is really a very regional schedule.
