Our last WAC game thread ever

We are playing competitively with a ranked team...that is progress. Let's see what our guys do in the next half...that will tell us alot about this team.

Very good first half by the O. The defense is really struggling though. It sounds as if we are getting no pressure on the QB so our d-backs are getting eaten alive.

I think you'd be foolish to assume that we would stop UTEP's aerial attack tonite.. I mean, their QB IS Carson Palmer's younger brother... but the red zone defense definitely needs to improve if we're to win this game. Our coaches need to come up with some creative ways to score if we're going to stay in this...

We have to make an upgrade in pass coverage. We get killed deep every game.

It sounds like the d-line can't get any pressure. That makes all backs look bad. Our d-backs are playing up to stop the run. I expect to see an adjustment the second half with more blitzing and otherwise our d-backs giving them a little more room in front of them.

Isn't it nice to have at least half of the team mature by the end of the season. I guess the D needs some healthy bodies and some more recruits to round out the team.

The ldefense is getting some pressure on Palmer, but by blitzing. He is very sharp and the receivers look like they are alone in the backfield. With the blitzing we are relying on one on one coverage and I do not think we are capable of that yet. We need to be able to get some pressure with a 3 or 4 man rush.

UTEP scores twice to start the second half before SMU gets the ball. Then SMU throws an interception for a TD. WE're dead!

The lack of a defense is now killing us. UTEP can take all kinds of risk becasue UTEP knows we can't stop them. The offense has finally found some success (last interception not inclued) but our D has found nothing. I sure hope we vastly improve our D by next year.
