You can go back further than that with Joe Montana and Notre Dame.

Re: The Doctrine of Coog'in It
Ha! now you are bringing back great memories. Since the Statute of Limitations has expired I can now confess that I played my small part in UH Coogin' It. My best friend and I were bartenders at a hole in the wall bar named the Waterhole that was right next to Jenny Bear's at the corner of Yale and Greenville. We both went to St. Mark's and knew Houston Free Safety Tommy Ebner. Ebner brought about 5-8 friends into the Waterhole every nite before the Cotton Bowl. Its been 30 years so I forget all the names of the other players but I specially remember Punter Jay Wyatt. Those guys didn't pay for a Pitcher all week and partied until closing time. I'm sure you remember that Jay Wyatt had a particularly rough time in the Cotton Bowl. I want to say he had two punts blocked -one returned for a TD that started the Notre Dame rally and fumbled another snap. One came right before Montana lead Notre Dame down the field for the winning TD. Now you know the rest of the Story-I played my part in inventing Coog'in It.
