If he can be fixed, if there was really anything wrong with him in the first place, it'll be a shock the way the gate jumps from 20 thousand to capacity.... Because you can't teach somebody to have Natural talent.

I dont know, I think after playing in front of 70k fans and half of them or more hate you, I think he will prefer the smaller and more friendly crowds. I mean we all know that the bar is pretty low to pass here for this year. As long as he doesnt go exactly 1 for 1 (TD:Int) then he will do great.

Im hoping he can show everyone that he is a respectable QB. I dont think its a big deal how his season went, terrible situation as a freshman, not much experience to lead the team as a sophmore, gets injured and expected to play amazing with no help from coaches and teammates, and especially fans. As much as I dont like McDermott, I would never boo him off the field or just in general because there is no purpose.

We treat our own QBs like crap. Have you read some of the threads on this site?

Garrett Gilbert Says Goodbye

As bad as many of SMU's QBs have been post DP, I recall any of them getting booed.

We can only hope he regains his form. We have a good record with transfers- re: McNeal.

McD is a transfer. What does everyone think about him right now?

We all need to sit back and let the players play and coaches coach. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes.

I'm sure Gilbert will benefit from a change of scenery and a little less institutional pressure.

Hope he gets that medical redshirt too. Be nice to have him one year sitting and learning, then two years playing.

yeah, you would never boo him off the field, that would be awful and show no respect or loyalty to your team...instead, you come on the message board, bash McD and give him clever little nick names like McDermott

welcome, GG!

June will do a good job with him

Absolutely, but it will take at least a year to undue the damage Greg Davis did on him. Thank goodness he has a year to sit out and learn

Gilbert was the Top QB in the land. He played under a crappy UT team and an OC who got fired, then this year he got a new OC.

Hard to play well in these conditions.

If he can sit out and run scout / learn the offense, he has 2 years to play. This could be an excellent coup especially if KP can't play 2
