Notre Dame / Big East

Post by Topper »

ND as a football member would solidify the BE for years to come. Intangible benefits too great to even imagine. I am in the camp that believes ND will need to be in a conference in order to remain relevant. I firmly believe everyone has a price. What would it take to get ND into the BE?

$25,000,0000 a year guaranteed for football only and the $15,000,000 for basketball

and that they won't be required to play conference games

ND could join the B10 later tonight if they wanted to. Why would they join the Big East and subject themselves to scheduling UCF, Boise, Houston, SMU, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Louisville, every year?

As long as the BCS carves out an exemption for them, ND is going to remain independent. The NBC $$ + scheduling flexibility is too attractive to them

because if you REALLY look at their schedule historically, they play 6-7 gimme's, 2-3 marquis games (USC, UMich)

How does the Big East change that? Play your 8 conference games, pick 2 exposure games and 2 home games, and viola! National Champs.

That's what I was thinking. They are like UT, i.e. looking for the easiest path to a national championship bid.

and it has not been easy enough for a looooong time. They are always over-rated.
