Burger wars, re-visitedModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Burger wars, re-visitedDid anyone else have the burgers offered up at the women's basketball game by someone called The Hamburger Man?
I was a little surprised. Watching them go on the grill, the meat looked good, but man, when they came off, they were as thick as a dime. Flavor wasn't awful, although too salty and the bun was way too big for the burger. That said ... it was still a burger, so it's not like I didn't eat the thing! ![]() On top of that, SMU beat TCU! That alone made it a great night. Fountain of youth

Re: Burger wars, re-visited
Agree about the burger, it dissapeared inside the bun. Five bucks for burger, chips, brownie and a drink was a pretty good deal, and the burgers werent bad, but they werent impressive, either.
Burger wars, re-visitedI've had the hamburger man cater a couple of parties I've been at. He's usually really good. And I know burgers.

Re: Burger wars, re-visited
i am more of a flattop fan. you gotta get really fatty meat for the open grate grill, and cook 'em medium rare if grilling over coals/wood. too much juice drips out IMHO. Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: Burger wars, re-visitedI make on the rare side of medium rare. Back before my gas grill got stolen, I had a griddle in it, just never used it. Please I like those nice grill marks you get after a quarter turn.

Re: Burger wars, re-visitedgrill marks? don't you melt cheese on it and hide it between bread? who looks at grill marks? i want a juicy point burger.

Re: Burger wars, re-visitedI'm a griddle man went it comes to burgers. Meat is juicier and like the way cheese melts when covered and steamed. Toast buns on griddle with butter and in meat juices. Great stuff.
GO MUSTANGS!
Burger wars, re-visitedYou're right. Griddle is best

Re: Burger wars, re-visitedGrill burgers with a ton of garlic mashed into the meat over hickory wood that has been soaked in water to make it smokier (or in beer to add that flavor to the wood).
If you cook it right, it will make you find religion.
