Freshman backup running back

how is it we have a freshman as a the backup running back? I can't quite remember, but i thought we had recruited several RBs over the previous 3 years. Did somebody transfer? A little worried Williams is not ready to step in yet.

Fields transferred and we moved Pope to linebacker. Both had limited playing time as true freshman last year.

and June is stubborn and wouldn't rotate two backs to give them rest and PT. niemichi is going to RS

We have other upper class running backs (Bryce Lunday for one) but the frosh are evidently the front runners at this time. Bryce supposedly has a good grasp of the blocking schemes so if that area becomes an issue I am sure they could use him.
