I Like That Fans Are Mad About A Loss

Post by huskerpony »

For all the [deleted] about fan support, this is the first time since I've been around SMU that we have had emotional, irrational, angry fans after losing games. We're all grown up now!

It is great to have fans that care about our teams, but hopefully they have positive outlets to channel that emotion as constant berating of the team and an overzealous fan base do not have good outcomes.

HUsker, especially when the loss is against the #11 team in the country away and a team everyone thought we'd lose to. We can see the potential of the team, and we need to get it back together and win these last two games.

It's not just losing games, it's looking lost and out-coached on national TV and embarrassing losses at that. Go down fighting and lose by a smaller margin and make the game exciting and make us proud in the loss anyway. But having a poor game plan on offense is another. And run an 18 play, clock consuming drive when you are down by 23 points in the 3rd is not adapting to the situation IMHO.

Seems like we have done that 20x in the last 2 games.

Giddy the first one he threw was actually the quickest I've seen it didn't take 1.5 hours to develop where everybody on the defense was havin a party

as opposed to "thank goodness they didn't hang 60 on us this time". Not happy about the loss, qb play, injuries, meltdowns in the 2nd half, play calling...but there is an EXPECTATION now of performance, rather than survival. This is SO much better than 5 years ago.

EXACTLY!!! We have expectations now and that's good, but it brings another set of problems on fan boards, doesn't it?

Thankfully we played UTEP, NW ST, Memphis, and Tulane. Might not be bowl eligible.

I'm mad that the Kaiser is not leading the team. If he doesn't we may have another loss.

CoxMustangFan wrote:Great post(s)! While I may fall into the guilty group of "over the top" comments/criticisms, it just sickens me that PF is the "golf clap" of fan boards (at least in my short time here). I understand that there are lines that shouldn't be crossed, I just wish more fans would add some Tabasco to his/her Grey Poupon and show a pulse. I've gone to wakes more out of control than SMU games.
